Austin Bashi vs John Yannis Preview
Austin Bashi is a young and well‑rounded featherweight who debuted in the UFC in January 2025. His lone UFC outing ended in a unanimous decision loss to Christian Rodriguez. Bashi landed 45 significant strikes from 92 attempts in that fight. He will need to be more aggressive if he wants to win this fight and even his UFC record at 1-1.
John Yannis is 9‑3 in his MMA career and brings experience and power at 31 years old. His last fight was a TKO win in Fury FC in May 2025. That win was his third straight knockout victory. But this is his first fight at the UFC level and a step up in level of competition could end both his knockout streak and his winning streak altogether.
Bashi is younger, faster, and more active as a fighter than Yannis. His output and submission skills could match up well against Yannis. But Yannis has shown in his career that he is capable of securing stoppage wins and he will look to do so in his first go in the biggest MMA promotion on the planet.

Austin Bashi vs John Yannis Prediction
This is an interesting fight, as we still don’t know too much about either of these fighters at this level of competition. Bashi looked a little more passive than I’d like to see him in his UFC debut. And Yannis has yet to compete in the UFC octagon just yet. A huge key to this fight is going to be which of these men does a better job of implementing their style without succumbing to the pressure of UFC competition.
I will take Bashi to win in this fight via decision. He has some UFC experience under his belt and should adjust well in his second fight. The pricing for this fight doesn’t offer much value, but that is the route I would take for this matchup.
