Key Storylines
Pitching matchup
Brad Lord continues to be one of the few bright spots for Washington. He is winless on the road this year but he brings a solid 3.42 ERA and 122 ERA+ into this start. Carson Whisenhunt is making only his third professional start. He had a solid second outing by throwing 5.1 innings with just one run allowed. The lefty’s limited experience makes this a key developmental moment for him.
Key Players
- James Wood (WSH LF): 24 home runs, .254 average, 71 RBI. Wood is Washington’s leading power bat.
- CJ Abrams (WSH SS): .267 average with .333 OBP. Abrans is a spark at the top of the order.
- Willy Adames (SF SS): 18 home runs, 61 RBI. He is a key middle-of-the-order presence.
- Heliot Ramos (SF LF): .271 average, .348 OBP. Ramos is finding his form after a slow stretch.
Recent team streaks
- The Nationals have lost two in a row and four of their last five games.

Final Thoughts
I do think that the Giants will win this game at home to extend their winning streak to four games in a row. I also think that we see this game go under the total. Washington’s offense has struggled to generate anything resembling a threat of late. And with the Giants having one of the best bullpens in baseball, I think Washington struggles throughout this game as well. I’ll bank on this being another low-scoring game between these National League opponents.
