Key Storylines
Pitching matchup
Spencer Strider enters with a 5–11 record and a 5.24 ERA. His recent performances have been shaky. That includes a rough outing where he allowed seven earned runs in three innings against the White Sox. He averages about 5.2 innings per start and has recorded seven quality starts this season.
Miami’s Edward Cabrera brings a 6–7 record with a solid 3.52 ERA into this game. He has 16 starts of at least five innings and three shutout appearances this year. His last outing resulted in four earned runs over 4.1 innings against St. Louis and he will look to bounce back in this game.

Final Thoughts
This is expected to be a tight game between division rivals and I think that’s exactly what we’ll get. In the end, Miami’s advantage on the mound is too much for me to ignore. Edward Cabrera is simply pitching better than Spencer Strider right now, even if Strider has had a good career overall. I’ll go with the Marlins as a slight underdog to get this win at home and continue to outperform the Braves in the NL East standings.
