The Detroit Tigers (85-69) will face off against the Atlanta Braves (71-83) on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers are fighting to maintain their lead in the AL Central while Atlanta is riding a six-game winning streak. The Tigers’ lead in the AL Central is no longer comfortable and they need to turn things around in a hurry. Key Storylines
Pitching matchup
Joey Wentz has struggled this season as a starter. He has an ERA north of 5.50 and a high walk rate. He has good tools, but his consistency is lacking. Keider Montero has been more reliable, though not dominant by any means. His ERA of 4.32 is solid, though his FIP suggests some home runs and baserunners have and will continue to hurt him, especially at home.
Recent team streaks
- Atlanta has won six straight games, including a 10-1 rout over Detroit on Friday.
- Detroit has lost four straight games and seven of its last eight.
Best Player Props

Betting Trends & H2H

- The over hit in the first game between Detroit and Atlanta. There were 11 total runs scored in that game.
Braves vs Tigers Model Projection
Score Projection: Tigers 6 – Braves 5
Win Probability: Tigers 57%, Braves 43%
Final Thoughts
Detroit enters this game needing to reassert control in the AL Central, and with a more stable starter and home-field advantage, they have the edge. Though Atlanta’s offense looks alive after their recent big win, Wentz’s inconsistency may help the Tigers get back into the win column and help them in their attempt to avoid choking away the AL Central lead.
Instead of taking a side, though, my best bet for this game is for it to go over the total. Both starting pitchers have had their share of struggles this season and I expect those struggles to continue against a pair of potent offenses.
