- Texas A&M running back Le’Veon Moss is expected to play in the opener for the Aggies. Moss averaged 6.3 yards per carry and had 10 rushing touchdowns for Texas A&M before injuries prevented him from staying on the field.
- UTSA is looking to overcome substantial roster turnover. They saw double-digit losses in the transfer portal and had to replenish via the portal as well. Their offense should remain a problem for opposing defenses in the AAC but maybe not against an SEC opponent in this season opener.
- Texas A&M finished in a six-way tie for fourth place in the SEC last season. They lost their last two SEC games to Auburn and Texas before losing their bowl game to USC. The Aggies are heavy favorites to end their three-game losing streak in this contest.

Texas A&M will start Marcel Reed at quarterback in this contest. This is Reed’s third year with the A&M program and he threw 15 touchdown passes to just six interceptions in 2024. UTSA will go with Owen McCown at quarterback. McCown piled up 3,424 passing yards and 25 TDs last season. He could be the best quarterback in the AAC this season if he takes another step forward.

This is only the third meeting all-time between UTSA and Texas A&M. A&M won both of those games. They beat the Roadrunners 23-10 in 2016 and 45-14 in 2019. Both of those games were home games for A&M and the Aggies are hunting for another double-digit win against UTSA here.

The defense of Texas A&M will determine whether or not the Aggies can cover the spread as a huge favorite in this matchup. I’ll lay the points with A&M here, as I don’t think the UTSA o-line can hold up against the defensive front of A&M.
