Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Tulane Green Wave at Ole Miss Rebels
- Date & Time: Saturday, September 20, 2025, 3:30 p.m. ET
- Venue: Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, Oxford, MS
- Broadcast: ESPN
Key Storylines
- Unbeaten Collision: Both teams enter this game undefeated at 3-0. Tulane is off to its first 3-0 start since its highly successful campaign in 2022. Tulane defeated Duke 34-27 in its last game, a result that gives the Green Wave confidence going into this game against another power conference foe. Ole Miss looked dominant for the most part and showed the ability to grind through tougher matchups in their win over Kentucky.
- Tulane’s Transfer QB: Tulane has received big contributions from BYU transfer quarterback Jake Retzlaff. His ability to make plays both with his arm and his legs makes him tough for opponents from any conference to deal with. Retzlaff has a chance to announce himself at Tulane with a big game against an SEC opponent here.
- Ole Miss’ Strong Start: Ole Miss is 3-0 and two of their wins have come against conference opponents. The Rebels have wins over Kentucky and Arkansas under their belt. Winning a non-conference game like this one and already being in first place in the SEC could set up a great season for the Rebels.
Quarterback Play
Jake Retzlaff has been the spark early this season for Tulane. He produces both through the air and on the ground. In their win over Duke, he rushed for 111 yards and four touchdowns, threw for 245 yards, and kept Tulane balanced between the pass and run.
Ole Miss’ QB Austin Simmons has been inconsistent early in the season. That is to be expected from a quarterback just stepping into the starting role and filling the shoes of an NFL prospect in Jaxson Dart. But Simmons has thrown four touchdown passes and four interceptions. He has to do a better job of limiting turnovers to keep his team undefeated here.
Betting Trends & H2H
- Both of these teams are 2-1 going into Saturday’s action.
- Ole Miss is 3-0 to the over to begin the season on totals.
- Tulane has seen two of their first three games go over their totals.
- Ole Miss is 40-27 all-time against Tulane. The Rebels have won 13 straight against the Green Wave.
Tulane vs Ole Miss Model Projection

Final Thoughts
Ole Miss should be able to win this game at home and stay undefeated on the season. But I am going to take the points with Tulane here. Retzlaff is the best quarterback in this contest and mistakes from Simmons could keep the Green Wave in this game throughout.
