Game Snapshot

  • Head-to-Head: Oregon State Beavers vs Texas Tech Red Raiders
  • Date and Time: Saturday, September 13, 2025, 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Venue: Jones AT&T Stadium, Lubbock, TX
  • Broadcast: FOX

Key Storylines

  • Oregon State’s reset on offense continues in Week 3. The Beavers fell 34-15 to California in Week 1 and 36-27 to Fresno State. They haven’t been good enough on either side of the ball and aren’t expected to change that here.
  • Texas Tech is off to a 2-0 start. The Red Raiders beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 67-7 and they beat Kent State 62-14. The Red Raiders have moved up to 21st in the country and their offense is looking to prove that it can function against a power conference opponent for the first time this year.
  • This is the first true road game of the season for Oregon State and they would have expected to have at least one win going into this contest.

Quarterback Play

Maalik Murphy has moved the ball through the air effectively for Oregon State so far this year. He has 615 passing yards through two games with four touchdowns and three interceptions. But the Beavers haven’t been good enough in scoring range and Murphy will need to be better inside the 20 if his team is going to end its losing streak.

Texas Tech’s room looks stable so far. Behren Morton has thrown seven touchdowns and has not thrown an interception thus far. This will be the biggest test of the season for Morton so far and I am excited to see how he performs at home against the first decent college football team he has faced thus far.

  • Oregon State is 0-2 against the spread to start this season.
  • Texas Tech is 2-0 ATS against inferior competition through two games.
  • The only previous meeting between these programs was in 1959. Texas Tech won that game 15-14 in Lubbock.

Oregon State vs Texas Tech Model Projection

Score Projection: Oregon State 20 – Texas Tech 34

Win Probability: Oregon State 27%, Texas Tech 73%

Final Thoughts

There is no reason to believe that Texas Tech will fail to win this game based on what we have seen so far this season from both of these teams. But my best bet for this game focuses on the total. I think both offenses will be slowed down somewhat against the best teams they have played so far and that the under is the best route to take here.
