Prediction: Queens Royals to Win the ASUN Championship
Queens is our selection to capture the 2027 ASUN Tournament championship. The Royals demonstrated an efficient offensive foundation throughout the 2025–26 season, recording a 56.6% effective field goal percentage and a 15.0% offensive turnover rate. Those metrics reflect a team capable of generating quality scoring opportunities while limiting wasted possessions, two characteristics that translate particularly well to making college basketball predictions in single-elimination tournaments.
The Royals also return an impressive core featuring Nasir Mann, Jordan Watford, and Avantae Parker, all named to the preseason All-ASUN team. Parker's defensive presence provides an important interior component alongside the team's offensive versatility. Having already won the conference tournament as the No. 3 seed in 2026, Queens combines valuable postseason experience with enough returning talent to challenge for a favorable seed and potentially benefit from the tournament's double-bye format.
Lipscomb will be the top offensive challenge for Queens' defense after averaging 10.8 made three-pointers per game in 2025–26, while Jacksonville's emerging roster makes the Dolphins another serious contender. Nevertheless, Queens' combination of efficient shot creation, established contributors, and championship experience gives the Royals the strongest overall case to defend their Atlantic Sun title.
Tournament Format
The top two regular-season finishers advance directly to the semifinals, while the third and fourth seeds receive single byes, creating a major advantage for the conference's strongest teams.
New-Look ASUN
The departures of Austin Peay, Central Arkansas, and several other former members leave an eight-team league that also welcomes West Florida from Division II.
Home-Court Feel?
The championship takes place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, giving Jacksonville and nearby North Florida a potential geographic advantage over more distant opponents.
Battle On the Glass
Despite their championship pedigree, the Royals allowed opponents a 33.7% offensive rebounding rate last season, an area that physical opponents could exploit in the postseason.
