NFC East Futures: Who Will Win the NFC East This Year?

The NFC East has a clear divide between the leading pair and the rest of the division. Philadelphia and Dallas command most of the attention in the futures market, but neither carries the type of overwhelming support that would make the race feel settled so early in the year. Washington is trying to rebound after an injury-filled 2025 season, while New York begins a new era under John Harbaugh. Here, we break down the NFC East futures markets and make our prediction as to how this division will play out.
Philadelphia enters the season as the market favorite, though its position is far from secure. That assessment makes sense given the overall quality of the roster. The Eagles still have Jalen Hurts at quarterback, Saquon Barkley in the backfield, and DeVonta Smith leading the receiving group. The offensive line remains a major strength with Jordan Mailata, Lane Johnson, and Cam Jurgens, giving Philadelphia a foundation that should allow the offense to remain efficient even after some major offseason changes.
A.J. Brown was traded to New England, making Smith the clear top receiver. Philadelphia added Marquise Brown and Dontayvion Wicks while using a first-round pick on Makai Lemon. Hurts is also working in another new offensive system, this time with Sean Mannion coordinating the unit. Training camp brought some uneven periods as Hurts adjusted to more timing-based concepts and throws over the middle. That creates some early uncertainty around an offense that has undergone more change than its familiar names might suggest.
Philadelphia's defense gives it room to survive an adjustment period on offense. Jalen Carter, Zack Baun, and Quinyon Mitchell remain central pieces of a unit with high-end talent at every level. The Eagles also have recent experience winning this division and handling high-pressure games. Polymarket's treatment of Philadelphia as the favorite reflects that combination of roster quality and proven performance, but the relatively competitive nature of the market shows traders are not viewing another division title as automatic.
Dallas sits close enough to Philadelphia in the market that this looks much more like a two-team race at the top than a clear favorite followed by everyone else. The Cowboys finished 7-9-1 last year, but the market is giving considerable weight to their ability to improve in 2026. Dak Prescott remains the most important part of that equation. A healthy, productive season from Prescott can put Dallas back into the postseason conversation, particularly if offseason personnel changes produce the defensive improvement the organization expects.
There is already an important concern on the offensive line. Left guard Tyler Smith is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks following thumb surgery. Losing one of the team's best blockers at the beginning of the season is not ideal, particularly with Dallas opening against the Giants before facing Washington, Baltimore and Houston. The Cowboys have an early schedule that could quickly reveal whether the optimism surrounding them is justified.
The market position is still notable. Dallas is being treated much more like a direct threat to Philadelphia than a speculative alternative, despite last year's losing record. That creates an interesting futures case. If Prescott stays healthy and the defense takes a meaningful step forward, Dallas has a reasonable path to doing exactly that.
New York may be the most interesting high-upside team in the NFC East, even though its futures position remains well behind Philadelphia and Dallas. The arrival of John Harbaugh gives the Giants a proven head coach after consecutive difficult seasons. New York went 4-13 in 2025, but that record included a 1-7 mark in one-score games. Even modest improvement in close contests could produce a much different final record this season.
The biggest variable is Jaxson Dart. His rookie season gave New York reason to believe it may finally have a long-term quarterback, but Year 2 comes with a new offensive system. Dart has acknowledged the adjustment involved in learning new terminology and concepts under Harbaugh's staff. Malik Nabers is expected to return after his knee rehabilitation, although his workload could require careful management early in the season. The Giants also released Darius Slayton just before Week 1, leaving Nabers, Darnell Mooney, Odell Beckham Jr., and rookie Malachi Fields as the primary wide receivers.
The futures market remains skeptical, which is reasonable given how much improvement New York needs to make. Still, the Giants have more upside than their recent record suggests. Brian Burns is coming off a 16.5-sack season, Abdul Carter gives the defense another disruptive presence, and first-round rookie Arvell Reese adds more athletic ability to the front seven. New York probably needs Dart to make a major Year 2 jump to seriously compete for the division, but the ingredients for a better team are present.
Washington enters 2026 in an unusual position. Jayden Daniels already demonstrated during his rookie season that he can play quarterback at a very high level, but his injury-disrupted 2025 campaign contributed to the Commanders falling to 5-12. The futures market appears unwilling to assume that a healthy Daniels automatically sends Washington back to the top of the NFC East race. That caution is understandable after the defense struggled badly last season and the offense dealt with personnel problems around its quarterback.
There are reasons to expect a better offense. Terry McLaurin remains Daniels' top receiver, and Washington signed Stefon Diggs to give him an established target on the opposite side. Diggs topped 1,000 receiving yards last season and should reduce some of the attention defenses can devote to McLaurin. Chig Okonkwo also adds another option at tight end. If Daniels stays available, the passing game has enough talent to move well beyond what Washington produced during its disappointing 2025 campaign.
Defense is the greater question. Washington devoted much of its offseason to repairing that side of the ball, and rookie Sonny Styles has generated considerable optimism entering Week 1. The Commanders open at Philadelphia before traveling to Dallas in Week 2, so the schedule gives them an immediate opportunity to change the NFC East conversation. A split would keep them relevant. An 0-2 start against their 2 biggest division rivals could leave Washington chasing the leaders before September is over.
Philadelphia is the best choice to win the NFC East. Dallas is close enough to make this a genuine race, but the Eagles have fewer areas where everything must go right. Their offensive line, running game, and defense create multiple paths to winning games while Hurts settles into Mannion's offense. Losing Brown changes the passing attack, yet Philadelphia has invested heavily in replacing those targets and still has Smith as a proven lead receiver.
Dallas deserves serious consideration and may offer the most serious threat if Prescott remains healthy, but Philadelphia has the deeper roster and a better recent track record of handling a full season. New York looks capable of becoming far more competitive under Harbaugh, while Washington has enough offensive talent to rebound sharply if Daniels stays healthy. Still, both teams require a larger jump to catch the top pair. The market has Philadelphia narrowly ahead of Dallas, and the current roster picture supports that order. The Eagles are my pick to win the 2026 NFC East.
