AFC South Futures: Who Will Win the AFC South This Year?

The AFC South has already taken on a very different shape from what many expected before the season. Jacksonville has created early separation, while Houston and Indianapolis are trying to keep the race from getting away from them. Tennessee remains in the picture mathematically, but its start has reinforced the view that this is still a developing team. The futures market reflects that gap, with the Jaguars holding a clear advantage over the rest of the division.
Jacksonville has done the most to justify confidence in this market. After an uneven road performance against Denver, the Jaguars responded with a convincing home win over New England that showed how dangerous they can be when the offense and defense work together. Trevor Lawrence looked comfortable spreading the ball around, the running game supplied balance, and the defense repeatedly gave the offense favorable situations.
Jacksonville does not appear dependent on one path to winning games. Liam Coen has multiple ways to create offense, while the defense has enough playmakers to change possessions quickly. There are still areas to watch, including consistency from the receiving group, but Jacksonville currently looks like the most complete team in the division. The market has reacted accordingly, installing the Jaguars as the clear favorite.
Houston remains the second choice in the futures market at Polymarket because the roster still has enough established talent to support a turnaround. The defense has continued to create pressure and finally produced the takeaways it had been missing, giving the Texans a foundation that should keep them competitive even while the offense searches for answers.
The bigger concern is that Houston has struggled to turn defensive opportunities into points. The running game has been ineffective, the offensive line has had trouble creating clean opportunities, and the absence of Nico Collins has removed a major threat from the passing game. C.J. Stroud gives Houston a reason to remain patient, and this team showed last season that a poor opening stretch does not have to define the year. Still, the current gap behind Jacksonville is deserved until the offense becomes more dependable.
Indianapolis kept itself relevant by beating Houston in a close divisional game. That result was especially important because it prevented the Colts from falling into the same early hole as the Texans and Titans. Daniel Jones made enough plays late to finish the job, and the defense delivered its best showing of the season after a difficult opening stretch.
There are still reasons to be cautious. Jones has put the ball in danger too often, and Alec Pierce is now on injured reserve, which removes an important vertical option from the offense. Keenan Allen and Josh Downs can keep the passing game functional, while Jonathan Taylor remains capable of carrying a large share of the offense. Indianapolis is a credible third choice in the market, but it needs cleaner quarterback play and more consistency on defense to threaten Jacksonville over a full season.
Tennessee sits well behind the other three teams in the futures market. The Titans have had opportunities to stay close in games, but the offense has struggled to sustain drives and finish scoring chances. Cam Ward nearly led a late comeback against the Giants before an interception ended the final possession, another reminder that the young quarterback is still learning how to close games at this level.
Robert Saleh is also trying to reshape a roster that remains a work in progress. Tennessee can improve as the season continues, especially if Ward becomes more comfortable and the defense settles into Saleh's system. For now, though, the Titans have shown fewer reliable strengths than their division rivals, making a sustained run at the AFC South title difficult to support.
Jacksonville is my pick to win the AFC South. Houston's defense made the Texans a logical favorite going into the year, but Jacksonville was very good last season and looks like an AFC title contender this year. The Jags have a strong chance to repeat as division champs, especially if the Texans continue to struggle offensively.
