The Pacific division was arguably the most fun division in the NHL last season as there are several legitimate Stanley Cup contenders in it. This year, the reigning Western Conference champions will look to crush the competition in this division, but that won’t be easy with all of the talent that resides in the Pacific. Pacific Division Favorites
The current favorite to win the Pacific Division is the Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton had been disappointing early in the season for the second year in a row and for the second year in a row they have turned things around in a big way. They responded to their slow start last season by making it to the Stanley Cup Final after turning things around. They could complete a similar turnaround this season with a trip to the Stanley Cup Final if they continue to play the way they have of late.
Also still in the mix to win the Pacific Division is the Vegas Golden Knights. Vegas took the lead in this division early in the season, thanks in large part to their dominance on home ice. But the Knights are now in a tight race with the Oilers for the top spot in the standings. Some regression was inevitable for the Knights, but they will need to play at a high level down the stretch to finish in first place going into the playoffs.
The Los Angeles Kings are still firmly in contention to win the Pacific Division as well. LA has struggled on the road this year, but they have been better than nearly everyone in the league on home ice. If they keep taking care of business on home ice, they could pass the Oilers and Knights, though they need to do at least something on the road to accomplish that.
2024-25 Pacific Division Longshots
Outside of the top-three favorites to win this division, everyone else is at +5000 or longer odds to win the Pacific this year. The Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames are being given a faint chance by sportsbooks to win this division in 2025. But they would need to finish incredibly strong and get some help from the other top teams in this division to win a division title.
Meanwhile, there are a few teams that are off the board in the race for the Pacific. The Seattle Kraken, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks are not in contention to win this division. We knew Anaheim and San Jose would be bad, but the Kraken have been surprisingly bad themselves after a brief period of time where they were a playoff team.
