Post-MD1 read: Group C is tighter than the pre-tournament prices suggested. Scotland have the points, Morocco have the best tactical performance, and Brazil still have the highest ceiling.
ATS.io expert verdicts
The sharp edge
The biggest market adjustment should come around Scotland. Pre-tournament, their route required beating Haiti and then finding something against Morocco. Step one is complete. The caution is performance level. Haiti created late pressure and Pierrot nearly equalised, so Scotland are not suddenly clear second favourites on quality alone. Morocco’s draw with Brazil looked more sustainable than Scotland’s 1-0 win, but the table now gives Steve Clarke’s side real leverage.
Key fixture now: Scotland vs Morocco on June 19 in Boston. Scotland have the points, Morocco have the stronger MD1 performance profile, and the result will likely decide who controls second place.
Post-MD1 projection
Green = projected to advance. Amber = wildcard or automatic place still live. Odds have been removed until fresh post-MD1 prices are confirmed.
Group analysis
Group C changed shape immediately on Matchday 1. Brazil were held to a 1-1 draw by Morocco at MetLife Stadium, with Ismael Saibari giving Morocco a deserved early lead before Vinicius Jr rescued a point for Brazil. Later in Boston, Scotland beat Haiti 1-0 through John McGinn’s deflected first-half strike. That leaves Scotland top of the group after one round, with Morocco and Brazil level on one point and Haiti needing a response against Brazil.
Brazil remain the most talented team in the section, but the opener made it clear this is not a group they can stroll through. Casemiro and Bruno Guimaraes struggled to control Morocco’s young midfield, and Ancelotti made changes at half-time after Brazil’s right side and central areas were exposed. Haiti should give Brazil a chance to settle, but the Scotland match in Miami could matter if the Selecao fail to win comfortably in Philadelphia.
Morocco were arguably the most impressive team in the group on MD1 despite not winning. Saibari took his goal calmly, Brahim Diaz created the chance, and 18-year-old Ayyoub Bouaddi played with remarkable maturity in midfield. The coaching-change concern around Mohamed Ouahbi looks less alarming after one game. Morocco now face Scotland in a match that is likely to decide whether their draw with Brazil becomes a platform or a missed opportunity.
Scotland did the job they had to do. It was not always clean, and Haiti pushed hard in the second half, but three points are everything in this format. Gannon-Doak caused problems, McGinn delivered the decisive moment, and Angus Gunn made important interventions late. A draw against Morocco would put Scotland in an excellent position to reach the knockout rounds for the first time.

Scotland to advance

The Haiti win strengthens Scotland’s position immediately. The path is now simple: avoid defeat against Morocco in Boston and they are in a strong place to reach the knockouts through the top-two or wildcard route.
Match focus
Scotland vs Morocco draw
+260
A draw suits Scotland more than Morocco but is live stylistically. Morocco are stronger in possession and transition, while Scotland can make this physical, narrow and set-piece heavy.
Caution spot
Brazil to beat Haiti
-1400
Brazil should win, but the Morocco performance raised enough questions about midfield rhythm that large handicap prices need to be treated carefully. Haiti were far more competitive against Scotland than the pre-match market implied.
Group C betting analysis
Group C is now a live-betting group rather than a simple Brazil-plus-Morocco forecast. Scotland’s 1-0 win over Haiti gives them the table advantage, but the performance did not make them look clearly superior to Morocco. The best way to read the group is Brazil as the quality leader, Morocco as the strongest tactical side from Matchday 1, and Scotland as the team with the scoreboard leverage.
The next pricing check should focus on Scotland’s advance market, Morocco draw no bet against Scotland, and Brazil’s winning margin against Haiti. Do not use stale pre-tournament prices for this section. The table has changed too much after the first round of fixtures.

🇧🇷Brazil
Carlo Ancelotti · projected 4-2-3-1 vs Haiti
Opened with a 1-1 draw against Morocco
1 pt · GD 0
Team overview
Brazil remain the Group C ceiling team, but the opener was not comfortable. Morocco led through Ismael Saibari and Brazil needed Vinicius Jr’s 32nd-minute equaliser to rescue a point. Ancelotti’s biggest decision for Haiti is whether to reward the half-time changes. Roger Ibanez and Casemiro were both booked and replaced at the break, while Danilo and Fabinho gave Brazil a more stable second-half base. With Wesley already out of the tournament, the right-back call remains important even in a match Brazil are expected to dominate.
Projected XI vs Haiti: 4-2-3-1
Availability notes
Wesley is out of the tournament with an adductor injury. No Brazil player is suspended for Matchday 2, but Ibanez and Casemiro were booked in the opener and both were withdrawn at half-time.
Ratings
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
Vinicius Jr already has his tournament goal and remains Brazil’s cleanest route to breaking matches open
The Haiti fixture gives Ancelotti a chance to fix midfield balance before the Scotland decider
Brazil’s attacking depth from the bench remains stronger than anything else in Group C
Weaknesses
Morocco exposed a lack of control in central midfield, especially before half-time
Right-back is unsettled after Ibanez was booked and replaced at the interval
Brazil cannot afford another slow start after dropping points in the opener
Model projection

Mohamed Ouahbi · projected 4-2-3-1 vs Scotland
Opened with a 1-1 draw against Brazil
1 pt · GD 0
Team overview
Morocco’s opener was a major statement even without the win. They pressed Brazil into errors, scored through Saibari, and controlled long stretches through Ayyoub Bouaddi and Neil El Aynaoui. Bouaddi’s performance changes the group picture because it gives Morocco a younger, more athletic midfield platform than the pre-tournament preview assumed. Scotland is now the decisive match. Win in Boston and Morocco are in excellent shape. Lose and they could need a final-day result against Haiti plus help elsewhere.
Projected XI vs Scotland: 4-2-3-1
Availability notes
Abde Ezzalzouli and Nayef Aguerd were ruled out before the opener. No Morocco player is suspended for Matchday 2. Bouaddi’s Brazil performance makes him a likely starter again.
Ratings
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
Bouaddi and El Aynaoui gave Morocco real control against Brazil and should match Scotland physically
Hakimi and Brahim Diaz provide high-level quality in transition
The draw against Brazil proves the coaching change has not removed Morocco’s defensive identity
Weaknesses
Morocco still need a win after letting the Brazil lead become only one point
Aguerd’s absence reduces centre-back depth and set-piece defending
Scotland can turn the match into a second-ball and set-piece contest, which is less comfortable than Brazil’s open game

Steve Clarke · projected 4-4-2 vs Morocco
Top of Group C after a 1-0 win over Haiti
3 pts · GD +1
Team overview
Scotland have the start they needed. John McGinn’s deflected goal earned a 1-0 win over Haiti and put Steve Clarke’s side top of the group. The performance was not flawless. Haiti pushed hard in the second half and Pierrot nearly equalised late, but tournament football is about position, and Scotland now have it. Clarke is likely to keep the core intact against Morocco, with Gannon-Doak’s right-side threat and the Adams-Shankland front two giving Scotland directness and running power.
Projected XI vs Morocco: 4-4-2
Availability notes
Billy Gilmour is out of the tournament. Scott McKenna was a pre-opener doubt but made the bench. Hickey, McLean and Curtis are on yellows after Matchday 1, but Scotland have no suspension for Morocco.
Ratings
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
Three points from the opener gives Scotland real control of their qualification route
Gannon-Doak’s direct running was the best attacking feature against Haiti
McGinn and McTominay provide goal threat from midfield and set-piece pressure
Weaknesses
Haiti created enough late pressure to show Scotland can be pinned back
Billy Gilmour’s absence limits Scotland’s ability to control possession
Morocco’s speed and midfield athleticism will be a much harder test than Haiti

🇭🇹Haiti
Sebastien Migne · projected 4-2-3-1 vs Brazil
Lost 1-0 to Scotland in the opener
0 pts · GD -1
Team overview
Haiti lost the opener but were not outclassed. They pressed Scotland, improved after half-time, and created late chances through Frantzdy Pierrot and Ruben Providence. The issue is now the schedule. Brazil are next, which means Haiti may need to survive damage limitation in Philadelphia and then target Morocco on the final day. Expect Migne to keep the core of the Scotland XI but consider Josue Casimir after his second-half introduction added energy.
Projected XI vs Brazil: 4-2-3-1
Availability notes
No Haiti player is suspended for Brazil. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde was booked against Scotland. Pierrot nearly equalised late and should keep the centre-forward role.
Ratings
Strengths and weaknesses
Strengths
Haiti were brave against Scotland and created enough late pressure to deserve respect
Pierrot gives them a genuine aerial and penalty-box outlet
Bellegarde and Jean Jacques provide athleticism in midfield
Weaknesses
A defeat in the opener means Brazil is now an extremely difficult recovery match
They lacked a clinical final touch against Scotland
Brazil’s wide forwards will put enormous stress on Haiti’s full-backs
