PSG beat Arsenal on penalties in Budapest in May 2026, becoming the first club since Real Madrid in 2018 to defend the Champions League title. Each of their players now has two titles. That’s an elite achievement, but it’s still four short of the record.
Six is the most anyone has won. For 58 years that record belonged to one man, until four matched the record in a single night at Wembley in 2024.
Here's the full list of players with five or more European Cup and Champions League titles.
Gento was the left winger in the side that won the first five European Cups, alongside Di Stéfano and Puskás. Most of that team had retired by the time Madrid won again in 1966. Gento was still there, now captaining a young side Spain nicknamed the “Yé-yé” team. Nobody matched his tally until 2024.
Modrić arrived from Tottenham in 2012 and became the heartbeat of the Madrid midfield for over a decade. He’s one of only two players to have played in six winning finals. All six of his titles came in the space of ten years.
Carvajal is the other player with six final appearances and six wins. He also picked his moment in the last of them, heading the opening goal in the 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in 2024.
Nacho was in all six winning squads, but he only played in two of the finals: 2018 and 2024. He still went out on a high, captaining Madrid at Wembley before leaving the club that summer.
Kroos is the only six-time winner to win with two different clubs. His first title came with Bayern Munich in 2013, though injury kept him out of the final. He then won five with Madrid. The 2024 final was the last club game of his career, which is about as good as a farewell gets.
Cristiano Ronaldo stands out in this group as the only five-time winner who did it at two clubs: once with Manchester United in 2008, then four times with Madrid. He also holds the record for most goals in finals, with four. He scored in 2008, in 2014, and twice against Juventus in 2017.
Benzema, Marcelo, Bale, Isco and Casemiro all won the same five, from the 2014 Décima through to 2022. Lucas Vázquez missed the 2014 title but picked up the 2024 one instead.
Maldini and Costacurta are the only players outside Real Madrid with five titles. Both won all five with AC Milan, and 18 years separate their first title from their last.
The final six on the list come from the team that started it all. Di Stéfano, Rial, Zárraga, Marquitos, Lesmes and Juan Alonso won the first five European Cups in a row, from 1956 to 1960.
Of the 20 players with five or more titles, 18 are Real Madrid players. That’s no surprise for a club with 15 European Cups, more than double anyone else’s tally.
The record that might never be matched belongs to a four-time winner.
Clarence Seedorf won the competition with three different clubs: Ajax in 1995, Real Madrid in 1998, and AC Milan in 2003 and 2007.
Five players share the record with six: Paco Gento, Luka Modrić, Dani Carvajal, Nacho Fernández and Toni Kroos.
Five. One with Manchester United and four with Real Madrid.
Paolo Maldini and Alessandro Costacurta, with five each at AC Milan.
Only Clarence Seedorf, with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
Cristiano Ronaldo, with four.
