Los Angeles Dodgers vs New York Yankees Prediction, Preview & Same Game Parlay - 7/17/2026

The Bronx hosts a heavyweight tilt on Friday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game set against the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. This is the first regular-season meeting between these two clubs in 2026, and with both rosters loaded with star power, the opener carries plenty of importance for two teams looking to get out ahead of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET, with Roki Sasaki taking the ball for Los Angeles against Gerrit Cole for New York.
The starting pitching matchup is the story of this opener. Cole enters at 3-4 with a 4.04 ERA, a modest number for him but one that still beats Sasaki's 3-5 mark and bloated 5.33 ERA on the year. Sasaki has racked up 80 strikeouts and shown swing-and-miss stuff at times, but the free passes and hard contact have piled up, and Yankee Stadium's short right-field porch is not a forgiving venue for a righty who has struggled to keep the ball in the yard. The Dodgers still bring the better overall record and a lineup that ranks among the sport's best against right-handed pitching, so this is not a lopsided pick, with the over sticking out more than either side.

The logic here is straightforward. Cole's edge over Sasaki supports the moneyline leg, Rice has been one of the most dangerous hitters in the sport all year and gets a righty he should handle well. And with two potent lineups squaring off in a bandbox in the Bronx, the over feels like the right side of the total. Stacking these three together builds a parlay grounded in the actual matchup data rather than pure longshot hunting.
Shohei Ohtani Over 0.5 Home Runs (+206 at DraftKings Sportsbook) stands out as the pick here. Ohtani leads the Dodgers in home runs and batting average and remains in the lineup as the designated hitter this weekend even while managing knee inflammation, meaning his bat is fully available against a Cole fastball he has feasted on in past encounters. The short right-field dimensions at Yankee Stadium also play into the hands of a hitter with his kind of raw power, giving this prop plenty of appeal at plus money.
