The Boston Red Sox and St. Louis Cardinals will meet in a nationally televised MLB matchup on Saturday night at Busch Stadium. Boston has struggled mightily out of the gate, while the Cardinals find themselves at the top of the NL Central after stringing together a few wins in a row. Before this matchup gets going in St. Louis, you can find my Red Sox vs Cardinals prediction below.
Red Sox vs Cardinals Pick

- Confidence: 4 out of 5
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Boston Red Sox vs St. Louis Cardinals
- Date & Time: Saturday, April 11, 2026, 7:15 PM
- Starting Pitchers: Ranger Suarez vs Kyle Leahy
- Stadium: Busch Stadium, St. Louis, MO
- Broadcast: FOX
Key Storylines
- St. Louis enters at 8-5 and is riding a three-game winning streak after a 3-2 win in the series opener.
- Boston has struggled early with a 4-9 record and inconsistent pitching results. They had a two-game winning streak snapped by the Cardinals on Friday night.
- The betting market still favors Boston despite the difference in form. Some of that has to do with the perception of the starting pitchers taking part in this matchup.
Pitching Matchup
- Ranger Suarez has an 8.64 ERA and has allowed 4 earned runs in each of his first 2 starts. Despite that, he is a part of the reason why the Red Sox are favored to come away with the win in this contest.
- Kyle Leahy carries a 5.40 ERA and has issued 5 walks in 10 innings. He has better numbers than Suarez early this season, but that is less about him being good and more about Suarez struggling so far.
- Both starters have elevated WHIP numbers near or above 1.80, suggesting traffic on the bases could be imminent on both sides.
Key Players
- Wilyer Abreu leads Boston with a .392 average, 3 home runs, and 9 RBI.
- Trevor Story remains a key run producer and adds speed on the bases. He also has 9 RBI to this point in the year.
- Jordan Walker contributed in the opener and continues to provide steady offense for the Cardinals. He leads the team in batting average, home runs, and RBI early on.
Recent Team Streaks
- The Cardinals are 4-1 in their last 5 games.
- The Red Sox are 2-3 in their last 5 games.
- St. Louis has won 3 straight games overall.
Betting Trends & H2H
- St. Louis has won the only meeting between these teams so far this season.
- The under is 7-6 in Red Sox games so far this season.
- The Cardinals are 6-6-1 in the over/under market for the year.
Red Sox vs Cardinals Model Projection
- Score Projection: Boston Red Sox 4 - St. Louis Cardinals 5
- Win Probability: Boston Red Sox 49%, St. Louis Cardinals 51%
This matchup presents an interesting betting angle where the market leans toward Boston, yet the underlying numbers point in a different direction. The Red Sox have had trouble stringing together wins, and their rotation has been unreliable early in the season. Suarez has yet to find rhythm, and his inability to pitch deep into games puts added strain on the bullpen.
St. Louis, on the other hand, is playing cleaner baseball and has already taken the first game of this series. While Leahy has not been dominant, he has been slightly more stable than Suarez and benefits from stronger team form behind him. The Cardinals lineup has also been more productive overall, holding advantages in runs scored and on-base percentage. With Boston entering this game at 1-6 on the road for the year, I'll go with the Cards to get a win as a slight home underdog.
