Saskatchewan enters Hamilton on Saturday with the stronger recent form, having improved to 6-2 after a 42-20 win over Ottawa on August 7. The Tiger-Cats are 3-6 after a 27-24 loss at BC, and their quarterback situation remains the biggest factor in this matchup. Bo Levi Mitchell is still recovering from ankle surgery and is on injured reserve, leaving Hamilton to rely on a replacement quarterback against a Saskatchewan defense that already held the Ticats to 7 points in their first meeting.
Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats Pick

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats Model Projection
- Score Projection: Saskatchewan Roughriders 31 – Hamilton Tiger-Cats 21
- Win Probability: Saskatchewan Roughriders 75%, Hamilton Tiger-Cats 25%
Our projection gives Saskatchewan a clear advantage, but the better betting value appears to be on the total. The current market has Saskatchewan around -7.5 with the total at 56.5, with the Under 56.5 around -105. Hamilton has gone Under in 5 of its last 6 games, while the Under has also cashed in 8 of Saskatchewan’s last 10 road games. The Riders have scored 42 and 28 points in their last 2 games, so an offensive collapse is unlikely, but Hamilton’s quarterback uncertainty makes it difficult to project the Ticats for the 27 to 30 points that would probably be needed to push this game past 56.5.

Saskatchewan Roughriders vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats Game Preview
The biggest reason to lean toward Saskatchewan is the contrast at quarterback. Trevor Harris continues to give the Roughriders a veteran presence and has produced several huge passing performances this season. He has already thrown for 417 yards and 3 touchdowns against BC, 349 yards and 3 touchdowns against Calgary, 409 yards and 2 touchdowns against Toronto, and 386 yards with 4 touchdowns against Edmonton.
Harris also has recent success against Hamilton. In Saskatchewan’s 38-7 victory on July 12, he threw 2 touchdown passes, while the Riders’ defense completely controlled the game after halftime. Hamilton managed just 122 passing yards from Jake Dolegala, who completed 17 of 30 attempts. Tre Ford added 47 passing yards on 5-of-6 passing after entering in the fourth quarter, but the offense never threatened to turn the contest into a competitive finish.
Tre Ford received the starting assignment earlier in the season, while Dolegala started against Saskatchewan in July. Hamilton also brought Harrison Frost back into the organization, and Frost has since seen playing time. The uncertainty has made it difficult for the Tiger-Cats to establish consistent offensive production. Against BC last week, Hamilton scored 24 points but still lost 27-24, and the club has struggled to generate sustained offense since Mitchell went down.
Hamilton’s best path is to keep the game close early, force Saskatchewan into longer third downs and create turnovers. The Tiger-Cats have defensive playmakers capable of doing that. Wynton McManis and Stavros Katsantonis each intercepted a pass in the July meeting, even though Hamilton’s offense could not capitalize enough to stay within striking distance.
There is a strong recent betting case for keeping the total below the market number. The Under has hit in 5 of Hamilton’s last 6 games and 8 of Saskatchewan’s last 10 road games. The Under has also cashed in 4 of the last 5 meetings between these teams in Hamilton. Our projected score of Saskatchewan 31, Hamilton 21 produces 52 total points, giving the Under 56 a 4-point cushion. It also reflects a reasonable expectation that Saskatchewan’s offense produces enough to win comfortably without requiring Hamilton to contribute to a high-scoring game.
