The teams already produced one of the wildest games of the CFL campaign in July, when Winnipeg erased a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit before winning 36-34 in overtime at TD Place. The rematch carries a very different feel, however, with Ottawa coming off a 42-20 loss in Saskatchewan and Winnipeg entering after a 35-19 home loss to BC.
Winnipeg gets the nod because the matchup gives the Bombers several advantages that outweigh their recent defensive problems. The Blue Bombers have already beaten Ottawa this season, and that game showed that Winnipeg can withstand a difficult start against this opponent. Dru Brown threw for 317 yards and 2 touchdowns in his return to Ottawa, while Nic Demski produced 90 receiving yards and a score.
The biggest concern for Winnipeg is that its defence has been giving up too many explosive plays. The Bombers allowed 35 points to BC in their most recent game and had allowed 208 points through 7 games.
