The Detroit Red Wings and St. Louis Blues are set to face off at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis on Tuesday night. This matchup follows a thrilling 6-4 comeback victory by the Red Wings over the Blues just three days prior, where Detroit erased a 4-0 deficit to secure the win. Here, I break down the rematch between these teams and give you my Red Wings vs Blues prediction for this game.
The Red Wings (6-3-0) demonstrated resilience in their recent victory over the Blues. Their offense has been potent, averaging 3.33 goals per game, while their defense allows 3.22 goals per game. Detroit has done most of its damage at home this season but will look to improve to 2-2 on the road with a win tonight.
The Blues (3-5-1) have struggled. They are currently on a four-game losing streak, including the recent loss to Detroit and last night's loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. They average 3.00 goals per game but have been conceding 4.33 goals per game. They need to tighten things up on defense if they are going to snap their current losing streak.
Detroit's goaltending has been a mixed bag. John Gibson and Cam Talbot have both saved under 90% of the shots they have faced this season. The Blues' goaltending situation is similarly inconsistent. Both Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer have faced criticism for inconsistent performances. The team will need a standout effort from their netminder to turn the tide tonight.
Dylan Larkin leads the Red Wings with 13 points (6 goals, 7 assists), while Alex DeBrincat has contributed eight points (1 goal, 7 assists). Emmitt Finnie has also been a key contributor with eight points (4 goals, 4 assists). St. Louis' Jake Neighbours leads the Blues with six goals and seven points. Robert Thomas is their top assist producer with five.
Player | Stat |
|---|---|
Dylan Larkin | Over 0.5 goals |
Alex DeBrincat | Over 0.5 assists |
Jake Neighbours | Over 0.5 points |
Score Projection: Detroit 4 – St. Louis 3
Win Probability: Detroit 55%, St. Louis 45%
The Blues are struggling of late both at home and overall. They are 1-3-1 at home on the season and are mired in a four-game losing streak. While the Red Wings haven't been overly impressive away from home this year, they should be able to take advantage of how poorly the Blues have played of late. I'll take Detroit to get a win on the road in this matchup.
