Milwaukee heads to Capital One Arena short-handed on offense, while Washington enters with fresh confidence and looking to get a win in what will be an emotional night in their building. Game Snapshot
- Matchup: Milwaukee Bucks @ Washington Wizards
- Date & Time: Thursday, January 29, 7:00 PM ET
- Venue: Capital One Arena, Washington, DC
- Broadcast: Prime Video
Key Storylines
- Availability watch: Giannis Antetokounmpo is out multiple weeks with a calf strain, removing Milwaukee’s top scorer and finisher. That shifts primary usage responsibility to guards and stretch bigs while lowering the Bucks’ free-throw creation and transition scoring ability.
- Washington’s youth movement: Alex Sarr continues to ascend, providing rim protection and efficient interior scoring. Kyshawn George and other young wings have offered timely shotmaking and improved on-ball defense in recent games.
- Recent form snapshot: Washington just snapped a nine-game slide with a 115-111 home win over the Portland Trail Blazers, showing better late-game poise. Milwaukee has struggled in Giannis’ absences this season and they have lost three games in a row going into this matchup.
- Spot and stage: Washington is celebrating a club icon tonight, celebrating ex-point guard John Wall during this game. That should introduce some major energy into a building where there hasn't been a ton recently and the Wizards will try to get a boost from that in this matchup against Milwaukee.
- Trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo have followed the Bucks around lately and it will be up to his supporting cast to hold things down while he is out. That could be a sign of things to come for the Bucks if the Greek Freak is dealt.

Bucks vs Wizards Model Projection
Score Projection: Milwaukee 112 – Washington 116
Win Probability: Milwaukee 43%, Washington 57%
Final Thoughts
The Wizards have had a rough season this year, but they should be able to cover the spread as a home dog against a Bucks team that is falling apart of late. Milwaukee is missing its best player and that should hurt them against a Wizards team that will have some added energy in the building thanks to the John Wall celebration. I'll take Washington to get the win in this contest at home.
