Houston comes in with a better record and is a slight favorite on the moneyline, while Orlando will be trying to protect its home court and improve its standing in the Eastern Conference. Key Storylines
- Houston enters with a stronger overall record at 35-21 compared to Orlando’s 31-26, and the Rockets have already defeated the Magic once this season in a close overtime game.
- The Magic are returning home after a four-game road trip, where they won three out of four games, including an LA sweep of the Lakers and Clippers.
- Orlando is without Franz Wagner for this game, while Jalen Suggs is questionable as well. Houston's injury report includes absences for Amen Thompson, Steven Adams, and Fred VanVleet, with latter two out for the season.
Key Players
Orlando Magic
- Paolo Banchero remains the focal point of Orlando’s offense, averaging 21.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. His ability to score from multiple levels and initiate offense makes him critical in close games.
- Wendell Carter Jr. anchors the interior with strong rebounding numbers, giving Orlando second-chance opportunities and rim protection. He is also a capable three-point shooter who will try to pull Alperen Sengun out of the paint when the Rockets are on defense.
Houston Rockets
- Kevin Durant leads Houston with 25.9 points per game, offering elite shot-making and experience in high-leverage moments.
- Alperen Sengun adds 20+ points per game while contributing strong rebounding and playmaking numbers from the center position, giving Houston offensive versatility. Sengun should have the matchup advantage on offense against Carter Jr.

Final Thoughts
This game could go either way as far as I'm concerned. My projections have the Magic winning by about a point, making it worth taking them plus the 2.5 points as a home dog. But bettors may want to wait until the status of Jalen Suggs is confirmed going into this contest, as his presence (or lack thereof) could be huge in determining the outcome.
