The San Antonio Spurs are set to visit the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday in a game between a top Western Conference contender and an Eastern Conference squad struggling to stay competitive. The Spurs are huge favorites on the road in this game despite being on the second game of a back-to-back. Can they take care of business in Brooklyn? Continue reading to get my Spurs vs Nets prediction for Thursday night.
Pick: Nets +12.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 4 out of 5
The Spurs enter this game as heavy favorites after carving out one of the league’s best records at 42-16 this season, contrasting starkly with the Nets’ 15-42 mark. San Antonio has been on a sustained roll, winning a high percentage of its recent outings, including their Wednesday night win over the Toronto Raptors in Canada.
Brooklyn is languishing on a five-game skid that has exposed ongoing offensive and defensive woes. Bettors should note the significant gap in both offensive output and defensive rating between these teams, with the Spurs possessing one of the most efficient offenses in basketball. But San Antonio is playing for the second straight night here, which could prevent them from reaching their full potential.
Stat | Spurs | Nets |
|---|---|---|
Points per game | 118.5 | 106.9 |
Points allowed per game | 111.8 | 114.8 |
Team Field Goal % | 48% | 44% |
Rebounds per game | 46.7 | 40.3 |
Assists per game | 26.8 | 25.4 |
The Spurs are likely to win this game on the road in Brooklyn. But asking the Spurs to travel overnight from Canada and blow the Nets out might be a tall task for them. I'm going to take the points with the Nets here, as I think they keep this game somewhat respectable at home against a Spurs team playing on tired legs.
