The Orioles are 4-6 over their last 10 and have allowed more runs than they have scored on the season, which keeps them from looking like a strong road favorite in this spot. New York has been slightly less productive at the plate overall, but the Mets have a stronger bullpen and a better strikeout rate from the staff, which helps in late innings. Their recent 6-4 stretch is also better than Baltimore’s current form, and that gives New York a modest edge in a game that should stay competitive.
Shane Baz gets the ball for Baltimore with a 6-15 record and a 4.05 ERA. His season line suggests he has been serviceable but often pitched with limited margin for error, which can be a problem against a home lineup that can still drive the ball. If he leaves traffic on base, Baltimore may need a lot from its bullpen, and that is not an ideal setup against a strong relief group. Sean Manaea starts for New York with a 5-7 record and a 4.79 ERA. His surface numbers are less attractive than Baz’s, but the Mets have been able to support him with a better bullpen and more strikeouts behind him. If Manaea avoids the big inning, New York’s overall pitching shape gives him a better chance to exit with a lead and hand it off cleanly.
I expect a tight, lower-scoring game in which the Mets do just enough at home to win 5-3. Baltimore has the stronger raw offensive batting line, but New York’s bullpen, WHIP, and recent form give the home side the more reliable path to control the late innings. That makes the Mets moneyline the best value on the board.
