The 2026 John Deere Classic tees off July 2–5 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. This summer event offers a scoring-friendly par-71 layout and has an unusually strong field for this week of the season. Defending champion Brian Campbell returns to Silvis to defend his title. The leaderboard will feature a dozen or more top-60 ranked players, including recent winners Ben Griffin and Chris Gotterup, as well as stars like Jordan Spieth, Keegan Bradley, Rickie Fowler, Daniel Berger, and Sungjae Im. Traditionally a birdie-fest, TPC Deere Run has wide fairways and receptive Bentgrass greens that favor long hitters and strong iron players as well.
John Deere Classic Prediction
- Pick: Ben Griffin (projected winning score –21)
- Confidence: 4/5
Ben Griffin (+1325) is our pick to emerge victorious at this year’s John Deere Classic. Griffin has been in excellent form, with a T3 finish at the Cadillac Championship in late April and a T10 at last week’s Travelers Championship. His ball-striking and short-game have combined to produce several recent high finishes.
The JDC course setup suits his game. The wide fairways and easy greens reward strong approach play and steady putting. We project a winning score around –21 (269) for the week, which is in line with recent trends, as the winning score has exceeded –20 in 9 of the last 12 years. Given Griffin’s recent consistency and ability to go low, he should be near the top of the leaderboard when Sunday’s leaderboards are finalized.
Betting Odds
- Ben Griffin +1325
- Chris Gotterup +1400
- Keith Mitchell +1800
- Keegan Bradley +2600
- Jackson Koivun +2700
- J.T. Poston +2700
- Eric Cole +2700
- Jordan Spieth +2800
- Pierceson Coody +2900
- Jacob Bridgeman +3000
- All Others +3200 or more
The market is led by Ben Griffin and Chris Gotterup, whose recent wins have vaulted them to the top of the board. Griffin’s form and Gotterup’s consistent ball-striking make both live in outright winner markets. Other notable favorites include Keegan Bradley, a past winner with a good record in Illinois (including a runner-up in 2015), and J.T. Poston (two-time JDC champion). Jordan Spieth (+2800) remains a popular pick. He has been effective on easy courses, and his strong mid-iron approach game fits this track.
Sungjae Im (+4100) and Tony Finau (+5500) are longer-shot plays; Im won the Classic in 2019 and has excellent short-game skills, while Finau’s length and hot-putter upside can light up the scoreboard on such a forgiving layout. Among sleepers, keep an eye on rising rookie Jackson Koivun (+2700), who made the cut at the U.S. Open and has multiple top-10s in his first PGA Tour events. Recent John Deere favorites like Michael Thorbjornsen (+3200) and Matt Wallace (+4000) could also contend, but our money stays with Griffin maintaining his run this week.
John Deere Classic Parlay
- Ben Griffin to win (+1325)
- Jordan Spieth to finish top 5 (+530)
- Tony Finau to finish top 10 (+440)
- Parlay Odds: +60000
For a high-upside parlay, we combine Griffin’s win bet with prop finishes by two big names. Jordan Spieth in the top 5 is an appealing bet. Spieth’s accuracy and putting make him a threat on easier courses like Silvis. We also include Tony Finau top 10 in this parlay for his combination of length and scoring touch. The course’s wide fairways should give Finau a chance to hit plenty of greens, and past trends suggest even one hot round can vault a player into the top 10. If all three legs hit, the combined parlay pays out nicely.
John Deere Classic Course Info
TPC Deere Run is a 7,268-yard par-71 golf course in Silvis, Illinois. Built in 1999 by D.A. Weibring and updated for tour play, it features medium-sized Bentgrass greens and three holes where water comes into play. The layout has three reachable par-5s and generous fairways, meaning a high number of birdie opportunities. In fact, Deere Run consistently ranks among the easiest par-5 and par-4 setups on the PGA Tour.
With average green sizes of over 5,500 sq. ft and receptive bentgrass surfaces, greenside putting and precision around the greens become crucial. Historically, the winning score frequently approaches –25, reflecting the course’s scoring ease. Water guards some greens, most notably the risk-reward par-4 14th and par-5 18th. Thick rough punishes errant drives, but a clean round usually yields plenty of birdies on this birdie-friendly layout. In short, Deere Run rewards bold driving and hot putting, making it a classic tour event for finding surprise winners and low rounds.
