Key Storylines
- Kansas is firmly in the Big 12's upper tier with a 20-6 record and a 10-3 record in conference play.
- Cincinnati has shown offensive upside but lacks consistency against high-level defenses. The Bearcats have won three straight games and will try to get a fourth in a row here.
- There are questions about the availability of Kansas star Darryn Peterson. Peterson missed the second half of Kansas' last game with cramps and it remains to be seen how he will perform here.
Key Players
Kansas Jayhawks
- Flory Bidunga: Firmly established around 14.5 PPG and about 9.2 RPG, making an impact on both ends of the floor. His consistent play is a huge deal with Peterson dealing with questions about his health.
- Melvin Council Jr.: Around 13.8 PPG and a team facilitator with assists and perimeter production. He has seen his usage increase in games where Peterson is on the floor.
Cincinnati Bearcats
- Baba Miller: The Bearcats’ top scorer and rebounder, averaging about 13.7 PPG and 10.4 RPG, giving them an interior presence that they will need against Bidunga.
- Day Day Thomas: Thomas leads the Bearcats with 3.7 assists per game. The lack of a high-volume assist creator is a concern for Cincy, but Thomas is their best in that category.

Final Thoughts
Kansas enters this game with a noticeable talent and efficiency edge, particularly in scoring and shot creation. Cincinnati has strengths, but has struggled to sustain consistency against premier defenses and disciplined rebounding teams. Expect the Jayhawks to win this game, but for the lack of consistent availability from Peterson to prevent them from winning by a huge margin. I'm going to take the points with the Bearcats in this Big 12 matchup from The Phog.
