Our Argonauts vs Roughriders Pick
- Pick: Saskatchewan Roughriders -3.5
- Confidence: 3 out of 5
Toronto Argonauts vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Model Projection
- Score Projection: Saskatchewan Roughriders 33 – Toronto Argonauts 26
- Win Probability: Saskatchewan Roughriders 65%, Toronto Argonauts 35%
The Roughriders averaged 30.5 points in their opening two games and generated over 750 yards of passing offense. Toronto has showed plenty of promise offensively, but the defense remains a concern after surrendering 37 points and allowing sustained drives throughout their opening game. Chad Kelly’s turnovers are also a concern going into this contest, as he enters this game with 5 interceptions in 2 games.
The game script favors Saskatchewan’s passing attack creating explosive plays, while Toronto keeps the contest competitive with a balanced offensive effort. The Argonauts are capable of moving the football, but Saskatchewan’s ability to finish drives and capitalize on favorable field position gives the home side the edge.

The first leg backs the team with the stronger overall track record entering Week 4. Saskatchewan already owns a pair of victories and has displayed an offense capable of stretching defenses vertically. Playing at Mosaic Stadium further strengthens the outlook of the defending champions.
The second leg focuses on scoring. Toronto has put up at least 30 points in each game so far, while Saskatchewan scored 31 in its opener and followed it up with another 30 points last time out. Both teams have shown the ability to create explosive plays, making a game in the mid-50s or higher a realistic outcome.
Toronto Argonauts vs Saskatchewan Roughriders Game Preview
Saskatchewan enters Week 4 sitting atop the West Division after opening the season with two straight wins. The Roughriders were one of the CFL’s most productive offenses during the opening week, ranking near the top of the league in total offense and passing production. They will need to continue moving the ball effectively to avoid falling behind an explosive Argos team.
Toronto’s opener was not entirely negative. Scoring 30 points against the Alouettes demonstrated that the offense has enough firepower to compete with quality opponents. The Argonauts moved the ball effectively for long stretches and showed the ability to answer scoring drives. They built nicely on that by scoring into the 40s in their last game to even their record at 1-1.
The issue for Toronto is whether the defense can hold up against a Saskatchewan offense that appears to be operating at a high level. Toronto’s defensive unit will need to generate pressure and limit explosive gains to avoid another high-scoring shootout. They will also need Kelly to avoid turning the ball over, as mistakes could be punished much more harshly against the reigning champs.
Expect Toronto to move the football and produce several scoring drives, but Saskatchewan’s offensive ceiling appears higher at this stage of the season in this specific matchup. The Roughriders should control key moments in the second half and gradually pull away from the Argos, covering the number as a home favorite in the process.
