Who Can Create an Account for Caesars Sportsbook?
To be eligible to create an account and start placing bets on the Caesars Sportsbook app, there are three key requirements that you must meet:
- Age: To sign up at Caesars Sportsbook, you must be at least 21 years of age. This minimum age requirement is on par with the legal mandates in the vast majority of states where Caesars is currently live and operational. However, even in states like Kentucky and Wyoming (where the legal age for sports betting is just 18 years old), Caesars Sportsbook has decided to uphold a uniform age policy of 21 years across all locations.
- Location: In addition, you must be physically located in an eligible U.S. state (AZ, CO, DC, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, MI, NC, NV, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV, or WY) or an eligible Canadian province (Ontario) to place real-money bets with Caesars. It is worth noting that you can create an account and make deposits or withdrawals from anywhere in the world; however, you must be within the specified regions to actually lock your bets in.
- Exclusion/Self-Exclusion Lists: Lastly, your name cannot be found on any exclusion or self-exclusion lists implemented by Caesars Sportsbook or the state in which they are operating. Exclusion lists may include individuals who have voluntarily chosen to exclude themselves from gambling activities or those identified as requiring exclusion due to specific regulatory reasons. If your name appears on any such list, you may be restricted from creating an account or participating in betting activities on Caesars Sportsbook.
Why do I need to go through the verification process when I create a new Caesars account?
For most people, signing up at Caesars Sportsbook is very quick and easy. However, in some cases, there may be some complications that slow down the process.
Most of these issues typically involve verifying your identity, and that's why we're going to take some to address the key aspects of the Caesars account verification process and answer any questions that you may have regarding this topic!
How To Verify Your Caesars Sportsbook Account
To verify your account on Caesars Sportsbook, you will just need to provide the following information about yourself:
- Full Name (First & Last)
- Date of Birth
- Home Address
- Social Security Number (Only the Last Four Digits)
Caesars will then verify your age and identity using a third-party Know Your Customer (KYC) verification service. As long as the information you've provided is accurate and matches that which is found in external databases, the verification process should be seamless.
However, for a number of different reasons, Caesars may not be able to verify your identity using the information you entered.
And, as a result, they may ask you to upload a form of government-issued ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, etc.) and proof of residency (e.g., a utility bill). You can provide these documents by visiting your account settings and clicking on "Secure Document Upload."
Reasons for verifying your identity on Caesars?
There are many different reasons why Caesars Sportsbook requires its customers to confirm their age and identity before getting started. Here are a few of the most important reasons:
- Legal Compliance: Caesars Sportsbook operates within a highly regulated industry. Confirming the age and identity of its customers is a legal requirement in many jurisdictions to ensure that individuals engaging in sports betting are of the legally permissible age.
- Fraud Prevention: Confirming the identity of users helps prevent fraudulent activities, such as creating multiple accounts or using false information. This safeguards the integrity of the platform and ensures fair and secure betting for all users.
- Security Measures: Requiring identity verification adds an extra layer of security to the platform. It protects both users and the sportsbook from potential unauthorized access and enhances overall account security.
- Responsible Gaming: Verifying identity is a key component of promoting responsible gaming practices. It helps Caesars Sportsbook identify and assist individuals who may need additional support or intervention to maintain healthy gambling habits.
- Regulatory Compliance: In addition to legal requirements, there are often regulatory standards that sportsbooks must adhere to. Confirming the identity of users is a common regulatory practice to prevent money laundering, underage gambling, and other illicit activities.
How Long Does It Take Caesars Sportsbook To Verify Identity?
Caesars Sportsbook is typically able to instantly verify the identity of new users by using a third-party company to compare the personal information provided with that which is found in external databases and public records.
However, if for some reason, Caesars cannot confirm your age and identity using the information you've entered during the verification process, they will need you to provide a government-issued ID with a photograph of you and a utility bill.
Once both documents have been submitted, their team will review your information promptly. In most cases, Caesars Sportsbook will complete the manual review and reach out to you via email within 24 hours.
During this time, their dedicated team will verify the authenticity of the submitted documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the platform's security standards.
Why Am I Having Trouble Verifying My Identity on Caesars?
There are a handful of different reasons why you may be having problems with the account verification process for Caesars Sportsbook. Here are a few common issues that could be causing trouble:
- Inaccurate Information: Double-check the information you provided during registration. Any discrepancies, misspellings, or inaccuracies in your full name, date of birth, address, or Social Security Number can lead to verification issues.
- Document Upload Quality: If you submitted photos or scanned copies of documents, make sure they are clear and legible and also include all necessary information. Blurry or incomplete images can result in verification delays.
- Identity Mismatch: If the information you provided doesn't match external databases or public records, the verification process may be delayed. This can happen for various reasons, including recent changes to personal details or database discrepancies.
- Technical Glitches: Occasionally, technical issues can affect the verification process. Ensure that you are using a reliable internet connection and try the verification process again after a short period.
- Limited Public Information: In some cases, individuals may face difficulties with the verification process if there is insufficient public information available about them. This situation can occur if your personal details are not widely documented in public records or external databases.
