The men’s biathlon 4 x 7.5 km relay at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano‑Cortina is set to be one of the most physically demanding events on the biathlon program. With top nations fielding their best skiers and shooters, this team relay requires teamwork, shooting precision, and skiing endurance. Norway is the favorite to grab the gold medal in this event, but their rivalry with France in this sport during these games could once again take center stage. Here, I break down this event and make my prediction in the betting markets below.
One of the biggest storylines heading into the Olympic biathlon relay is the ongoing rivalry between Norway and France. While Norway tops the odds list, France’s odds show they are viewed as legitimate challengers for the title. This rivalry has been reflected in the World Cup relay standings, where Norway has frequently led the pack over the course of the season, with France close behind. Sweden, while further down the odds board, has also shown competitive form in World Cup relays and could crash the podium picture.
Another storyline is the depth and consistency of the German team. Despite recent health concerns affecting some German athletes, they remain in contention for a medal. A return to full fitness for their top shooters could see Germany outperform their current odds. For hosts Italy, their odds reflect respect for their squad’s potential on home snow, where they have raced well. But Italy will need near‑perfect shooting to challenge the favorites.
The lesser‑ranked teams, including the United States and Czechia, face steep odds, but relays are often decided by shooting. A clean day at the range can vault a lesser team into medal contention at the expense of more established teams. Given the depth of the field, bettors should watch start lists and real‑time conditions closely as weather and wind at the shooting range can dramatically shift outcomes in biathlon relays.
Pick: France ATS PRO
Confidence: 4 out of 5
The Olympic men’s biathlon relay always provides drama, and this year is no different. With several teams capable of strong performances, shooting performances and weather forecasts could be crucial for bettors considering betting this race. I think France represents a compelling value pick due to their current form, shooting accuracy, and ability to handle pressure in relay competition. While Norway remains the favorite and could very well secure gold, France’s talent in both skiing and shooting makes them my pick at plus money.
