The 2-man bobsleigh competition at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina is set to begin on Thursday. As athletes prepare to descend the Cortina track, recent World Cup form and previous championship pedigree are pointing toward a thrilling battle for the medals. Germany’s bobsleigh program, long a powerhouse in the sport, has once again asserted its dominance throughout the 2025-26 IBSF World Cup season, with its pilots leading the standings and consistently reaching the podium. Before the rest of the world tries to outperform Germany, you will find my 2-man bobsleigh prediction right here.
Here are the current odds for the 2-man bobsleigh gold medal winner at the 2026 Winter Olympics:
The narrative around this event centers on a duel within a dominant German squad and the aspirations of several rising challengers. Johannes Lochner has been the standout performer throughout the past season. He won the overall 2-man World Cup title, capturing six victories in seven races and finishing comfortably atop the standings with 1560 points. He also claimed European Championship gold in St. Moritz and set track and start records on multiple occasions, suggesting he goes into the Olympics firing on all cylinders. Lochner’s consistency and form at Cortina in particular add to his allure as the favorite.
Francesco Friedrich, meanwhile, remains one of the most accomplished bobsledders in history. The double Olympic champion has been a fixture atop the sport for years and has delivered numerous World Championship and Olympic titles for Germany. Although he finished second in the 2025-26 World Cup behind Lochner, Friedrich’s experience and history of peaking on the biggest stage make him a perennial threat. He also has gold medal momentum at the test event on the Cortina track earlier in the season.
Adam Ammour, another German pilot, has shown flashes of podium potential and carries respectable odds that reward a strong performance. His presence alongside Lochner and Friedrich gives Germany the depth to potentially sweep the medals.
Outside the German trio, a handful of competitors offer intriguing dark-horse angles. Britain’s Brad Hall has posted competitive results this season and could capitalize if conditions favor a big run. Jinsu Kim of South Korea and Frank Del Duca of the United States are longshots but represent potential surprises for bettors seeking value. But no non-German slider enters this event inside of +4000 to win gold.
Pick: Johannes Lochner to win gold ATS PRO
Confidence: 4 out of 5
The case for Lochner rests on both numbers and momentum. He has been the most prolific winner on the World Cup circuit this season and has delivered at every major venue, including at the European Championships and the test races at Cortina. His consistency, paired with a strong start crew and a sled that has shown remarkable speed, makes him the most reliable candidate to ascend the podium’s top step. I am not going to overthink this one, as I think Lochner's sled earns gold and the Germans sweep the podium here.
