Arsenal vs Leeds Premier League Preview & Prediction: Under 2.5 Looks Mispriced

Arsenal return to Premier League action on Saturday with an opportunity to respond to their first defeat of the season, but Leeds arrive at the Emirates as one of the more awkward opponents they could face immediately after the international break.
Leeds are unbeaten through five league matches and have conceded only three goals, while Arsenal return with several important players carrying injuries or fitness concerns.
That makes the outright Arsenal price difficult to chase. The more interesting position is Under 2.5 goals at 46¢, where the market appears to be placing too much faith in a depleted Arsenal attack,
Arsenal Moneyline is Expensive
The home win is trading at roughly 71¢, which requires Arsenal to win more than seven times in ten just to justify the entry. Given Leeds' unbeaten start and Arsenal's injury situation, there is little obvious value at that price, even if the champions are the more likely winners.
The Handicap is Aggressive
Arsenal -1.5 is available at 45¢, meaning the market gives the Gunners close to a coin-flip chance of winning by at least two goals. Our expected game state is more controlled than explosive given the significant home injury concerns, making that thesis difficult to support.
Total Currently Offers Value
Under 2.5 is priced at 46¢, while Over 2.5 trades at 56¢. Our projection gives the Under a 53% probability, leaving a 7-point edge over the current market price. A depleted Arsenal attack taking on Leeds' sturdy defence, combined with the home side's own solid defensive metrics is not a recipe for a high scoring affair.

Why Under 2.5 Goals Suits This Matchup

“Arsenal should dominate possession, but dominance does not necessarily mean a high-scoring game. Leeds have conceded only three league goals, Arsenal have the best defensive underlying numbers in the Premier League, and the Gunners return from the international break with several attacking pieces either unavailable or carrying fitness concerns. At 46¢, Under 2.5 offers the better entry than paying a premium for Arsenal to win comfortably.”
Metric | Arsenal | Leeds |
|---|---|---|
League Position | 2nd | 5th |
Points | 12 | 9 |
Record | 4-0-1 | 2-3-0 |
Goals Scored | 8 | 7 |
Goals Conceded | 4 | 3 |

Expected Goals Against, xGA | 4.83 | 6.35 |
xG Difference | +3.93 | +1.43 |

The exact xG figures vary slightly by provider, but the direction is consistent: Arsenal have produced the strongest underlying profile in the league, while Leeds' unbeaten start is supported by a positive expected-goal differential rather than being purely results-driven. Arsenal are currently allowing roughly 0.8 xGA per game, the best defensive mark in the division.
The central assumption behind the Under is not that Arsenal will struggle to dominate. They should have most of the ball, spend long periods in Leeds' half and generate the greater volume of pressure.
However, it is critical for the home side that they turn this dominance into clear cut chances. Arsenal will likely circulate possession around a compact block, with Leeds trying to keep the central spaces crowded and force attacks toward the outside.
This game script can still lead to an Arsenal win (especially given their set piece prowess) without producing the three goals required to beat the Under.
Leeds have been much more comfortable defending without possession than the market appears to be crediting. Against a possession-dominant Brighton side that Arsenal lost 3-0 to, Leeds soaked up the pressure and delivered an impressive 1-1 draw while producing 2.49 xG.
Don't expect them to produce number that high against a stout Arsenal defence, however.
The strongest argument for the Under may actually come at the opposite end.
Arsenal have conceded only four league goals and rank as the Premier League's strongest side by early underlying defensive numbers. Their current xGA sits at 1.18, and is heavily inflated by a lacklustre performance against Brighton before the international break.
Leeds have created enough to avoid being treated as a purely defensive side, but an away trip to the Emirates presents a much higher bar.
Arsenal enter this fixture with a number of fitness concerns. Konsa, Rice and Ødegaard will all need monitoring before kickoff after withdrawing from their international squads, while Havertz and Tzolis are likely to miss out having picked up their own injuries on international duty.
Leeds remain without Joe Rodon and Mateo Joseph, with Harry Wilson among the players whose availability requires checking closer to the match.
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya; Timber, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori; Bruno Guimarães, Rice; Saka, Ødegaard, Eze; Gyökeres.
Leeds (3-5-2): Trafford; Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic; Bogle, Tanaka, Ampadu, Stach, Gudmundsson; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin.
Arsenal deserve to be favorites, but 71¢ is already pricing in most of the obvious home advantage.
Leeds' unbeaten start, three goals conceded and 1.32 xGA suggest this is not a matchup where Arsenal should automatically be expected to win by two or three.
At the same time, Arsenal's own defensive numbers make a meaningful Leeds attacking contribution difficult to project.
That combination pushes me toward the total rather than the match winner.
Under 2.5 goals at 46¢ is the preferred position, with an estimated 53% true probability and a 7% edge over the current market.
The most likely outcome is Arsenal controlling the game without turning it into a rout.
Prediction: Arsenal 1-0 Leeds United
