The New York Rangers will visit the Carolina Hurricanes in a Metropolitan Division matchup in the NHL on Monday night. With both clubs trying to build momentum as the regular season progresses, this contest carries implications for both teams in the Metro standings. Carolina enters as the favorite according to current betting markets, but these teams have been evenly-matched against each other this season. Before the puck drops in Raleigh, you can continue reading to get my Rangers vs Hurricanes prediction below.

The Hurricanes enter off a convincing 5-2 triumph over the Detroit Red Wings that snapped a brief slump, with multiple contributors finding the scoresheet and goaltending standing firm. Carolina’s offense has been productive of late, highlighted by contributors such as Andrei Svechnikov and Eric Robinson, who have been consistently on the scoresheet.
The Rangers had a disappointing return from their holiday break, dropping a 2-0 decision to the New York Islanders and extending a trend of limited offensive output that has plagued them this season. New York’s inconsistency remains a theme entering this matchup.
Goaltending could play a decisive role in this contest. Carolina is likely turning to Pyotr Kochetkov, who has been effective in his appearances this season and previously blanked the Rangers earlier in the season. Brandon Bussi also presents a strong option given his overall record and recent performances.
On the Rangers’ side, Igor Shesterkin will start between the pipes and remains a stabilizing presence despite limited offensive support. His save totals and goals-against average suggest he can keep New York in contention through 60 minutes, but a lack of scoring support undermines confidence in the Rangers taking the victory outright.
For Carolina, Svechnikov’s recent production and Robinson’s scoring streak have improved their offensive outlook. The Hurricanes’ ability to generate offense and contribute from different lines makes them hard to keep quiet for a full game. New York’s Artemi Panarin leads the Rangers offensively and remains the primary threat whenever he’s on the ice. Will Cuylle and Vincent Trocheck have chipped in complementary offense, yet New York’s power-play struggles and absence of elite secondary scoring have hurt them of late.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Andrei Svechnikov (CAR) | Over 0.5 Points |
Artemi Panarin (NYR) | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Rangers 2 – Hurricanes 4
Win Probability: Rangers 42%, Hurricanes 58%
My best bet for this contest is for the Carolina Hurricanes to win and cover the puckline at home. The Canes are 12-6-1 at home on the season and they should get the better of a Rangers team that is playing their fourth consecutive road game here. Expect the Hurricanes to win by two goals or more in this contest on their home rink.
