The Buffalo Sabres will host the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night at KeyBank Center in Buffalo. The Sabres have won two games in a row and will try to continue their winning streak against a Flames team that is struggling mightily of late. Before these opponents from different conferences go at it in Buffalo, you can continue reading to get my Flames vs Sabres prediction for tonight.
Buffalo comes into this game on a two-game winning streak. They have scored five goals in each of their last two games, defeating the Detroit Red Wings and Edmonton Oilers. They will try to build on those offensive performances against one of the worst teams in the NHL. Calgary is just 2–9–1 on the road this season and they have lost four of their last five games. Their offensive production has lagged, averaging only 2.10 goals per game.
Dustin Wolf is expected to start in net for the Flames. He’s one of their most reliable pieces, posting strong numbers last season. But he has a GAA of 3.01 this season and he needs more help from his defense to play well here. Buffalo’s netminding is likely to be done by Alex Lyon in this game. Lyon has had a challenging season so far, with a goals-against average over 3.00 and save percentage in the low .900s. He will try to take advantage of this opportunity against the Flames to get back on track.
Buffalo's Tage Thompson is their leading offensive threat. He has posted 9 goals and 8 assists this season, making him the driver of their attack. Calgary's Nazem Kadri is the veteran center who still generates danger for the Flames. He leads his team in points and assists and he will try to help the Flames get a rare road win here.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Tage Thompson (Sabres) | Over 1.5 Points |
Alex Tuch (Sabres) | Over 0.5 Assists |
Nazem Kadri (Flames) | Over 0.5 Assists |
Score Projection: Buffalo 4 – Calgary 2
Win Probability: Sabres 57%, Flames 43%
I will take the Buffalo Sabres to win at home on Wednesday night. Buffalo is playing arguably the worst road team in the NHL right now and the Sabres should be able to get their third win in a row here. Bettors with higher risk tolerance can lay the puckline with the Sabres, but I'm content to play the moneyline in this one.
