Friday’s Western Conference showdown between the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors is likely to be the best game of the night in the NBA from a pure quality standpoint. Minnesota arrives with a strong record in spite of a few injury issues, while Golden State is looking to extend its winning streak with its top weapon back on the floor. Before tip-off from San Francisco, keep reading to get my Timberwolves vs Warriors prediction.
The health reports around this game are a key determinant in handicapping results. Golden State is expected to see Stephen Curry return from a left quad strain that sidelined him for several games, a development that provides a boost to their offense if he plays. Curry has been one of the league’s most potent scorers this season, averaging nearly 28 points per contest. Meanwhile, Draymond Green is out for personal reasons and Al Horford is sidelined with back issues, making the already-undersized Warriors even smaller. The Warriors’ frontcourt will be something to watch going into this game as they will be relying on younger players against some veteran bigs for Minnesota.
Minnesota has some injury concerns entering this game as well. The Timberwolves have one of the better records in the league and have been boosted by Anthony Edwards’ scoring surge. He has multiple 40-point performances in recent weeks and is a marquee offensive threat, but he is questionable to compete in this contest. Minnesota’s bigger lineup, led by Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert, provides size and rebounding advantages that could create matchup issues for Golden State’s shorthanded interior. Although the Wolves lost a tight contest to the Suns recently, they’ve won consistently on the road this season and bring more stable rotations into this game.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Anthony Edwards | Over 28.5 Points |
Julius Randle | Over 6.5 Rebounds |
Stephen Curry | Under 4.5 Threes Made (if active) |
Rudy Gobert | Over 9.5 Rebounds |
Score Projection: Timberwolves 114 – Warriors 110
Win Probability: Timberwolves 52%, Warriors 48%
Steph Curry being back will be important for the Warriors in this game. But the paint will be where the Wolves have the advantage in this matchup. Look for the Timberwolves to cover the spread as a slight underdog in this matchup, a game that the Wolves could potentially win outright on the road against a banged-up Golden State squad.
