The Miami Heat head to Charlotte on Friday night for a key Eastern Conference clash with the Hornets at Spectrum Center. Both teams enter this contest with plenty at stake as the regular season moves deeper into the stretch run. Miami has shown flashes of strong offensive play lately, highlighted by a recent 126 to 110 victory over Brooklyn last night behind strong performances from Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo. Charlotte is playing its best basketball of the season, riding a series of wins that includes a dominant blowout of Boston. Here, I break down this contest and make my Heat vs Hornets prediction in the NBA.
Pick: Charlotte Hornets -7.5 ATS PRO
Confidence: 3 out of 5
Charlotte enters this game as one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference. The Hornets have won 7 of their last 10 games and recently delivered an impressive win over Boston, showing that their young core can compete with elite teams. Their improved ball movement and efficient perimeter shooting have played a major role in their recent run.
Miami arrives in Charlotte after building a small winning run of its own. The Heat offense has been clicking recently, posting more than 120 points per game and relying on the scoring of Tyler Herro along with the interior dominance of Bam Adebayo. Miami has also controlled this series this season and will try to use that to their advantage here.
Charlotte Hornets
Miami Heat
Team | Points per game | Points allowed per game | Team Field Goal % | Rebounds Per Game | Assists Per Game |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Miami Heat | 120.0 | 116.6 | 46% | 47.2 | 28.6 |
Charlotte Hornets | 116.1 | 112.3 | 46% | 46.3 | 26.6 |
Score Projection: Miami Heat 108 – Charlotte Hornets 118 ATS PRO
Win Probability: Miami Heat 42%, Charlotte Hornets 58% ATS PRO
The rest advantage for the Hornets should be the difference maker in this game. Miami is on the second night of a back-to-back here and that should hold them back against a Hornets team that is playing some of the best basketball in the league right now. I'll lay the points with the home favorite in this big game in the Southeast Division.
