Key Storylines
- Donovan Mitchell’s scoring binge has powered a four-game winning streak for Cleveland. His shot volume and efficiency have spiked while playmaking duties have expanded without Darius Garland on the floor.
- Garland’s right toe sprain keeps him on the shelf for this game, shifting ball-handling duties to Mitchell, Craig Porter Jr., and other creators. While Garland is an excellent basketball player, his absence has yet to impact the Cavaliers too negatively in terms of wins and losses.
- Los Angeles continues its road trip with a fifth consecutive road game here. The Lakers are 3-1 on their trip so far, with Luka Dončić carrying a massive usage load. Reaves has been out, removing a secondary pick-and-roll initiator and a valuable spacer.
- Frontcourt battle: Deandre Ayton’s finishing and glass work will be put to the test against Jarrett Allen’s strength. The Lakers will benefit from the absence of Evan Mobley, who is expected to be out for the next two weeks or so with a calf injury. Cleveland will have to overcome the absence of the regining Defensive Player of the Year to continue its winning ways.
