Kurtis Campbell gets a chance to steady his UFC career when he faces Trevor Peek on Saturday, September 5, at UFC Fight Night in Paris. Campbell enters at 8-1 after suffering his first professional defeat against Danny Silva in March, while Peek returns for his first fight since September 2024. The matchup brings together 2 aggressive finishers with different paths to victory. Campbell owns the longer reach, a more varied grappling game, and a 7-year age advantage. Peek carries proven power and far more UFC cage time, but his defensive wrestling and extended absence create difficult questions against a younger opponent who can change phases quickly.
Polymarket traders have Campbell priced at 78¢, which translates to a 78% implied probability. Peek sits at 23¢. The pricing makes Campbell a substantial favorite, but there is still a gap between the market number and my projection. I give Campbell an 82% chance of winning based primarily on his grappling advantage, age, activity, and Peek's defensive issues.
Peek is dangerous enough that paying almost any price on Campbell would be a mistake. He has 8 knockout victories in 9 professional wins and has never been stopped in his 3 official professional defeats. Still, Peek has lost 3 of his past 4 UFC appearances, with all 3 defeats coming by unanimous decision. Opponents have repeatedly found success by forcing him to defend takedowns or fight through extended exchanges in which his power becomes less influential. Campbell's ability to mix striking with level changes gives him several ways to exploit that pattern.
Statistic | Kurtis Campbell | Trevor Peek |

Campbell's unbeaten start ended against Danny Silva in his UFC debut on March 21. After beginning his career 8-0, including a first-round knee stoppage of Demba Seck on Dana White's Contender Series, Campbell was stopped by Silva 31 seconds into Round 2. Before that defeat, Campbell had finished 3 consecutive opponents, beating Seck with a knee knee, Mark Gregory Valerio by rear-naked choke, and Daniel Matusic by strikes.
The loss exposed an important part of Campbell's development. He is dangerous everywhere, but his eagerness to attack can leave openings against experienced opponents. His UFC statistical sample remains very small, so career averages should be handled carefully. Across his recorded UFC and Contender Series action, however, Campbell has already demonstrated that wrestling is a genuine part of his game rather than an emergency option. His 72-inch reach also gives him an additional 2 inches to work with despite both men standing 5'9".
Peek's style is far easier to identify. He pressures forward, throws with bad intentions, and accepts exchanges most fighters would rather avoid. His career statistics list him at 4.39 significant strikes landed per minute while absorbing 3.88. He has landed 319 significant strikes in UFC competition, giving him a much larger top-level sample than Campbell. His 44% significant-strike defense, however, shows the cost of his aggressive approach. His takedown defense sits at 53%.
That second number may decide the fight. Yanal Ashmouz completed 9 takedowns against Peek in their September 2024 meeting despite being outlanded 55-42 in significant strikes. Chepe Mariscal also landed 4 takedowns while beating Peek by decision in 2023. Peek can make opponents uncomfortable on the feet, but fighters capable of disrupting his forward pressure with wrestling have consistently found ways to bank rounds.
Peek also enters after nearly 2 years without competing. His last appearance was the September 7, 2024 decision loss to Ashmouz, which followed another decision defeat against Charlie Campbell. That inactivity is particularly relevant in a matchup with a 24-year-old opponent who fought only about 6 months ago.
Campbell is younger, quicker between phases, and has the wrestling tools that have troubled Peek before. At his current 78¢ Polymarket price, Campbell remains my preferred option in the market, with my model placing his chances of winning at 82%.
