The Texas Rangers and Cleveland Guardians will face off in the final game of the regular season on Sunday afternoon. Cleveland enters this with high stakes. A win in this contest would guarantee that they win the AL Central, while a loss and a Tigers win would drop them into a Wild Card spot. Before this important American League matchup begins on Sunday, you can continue reading to get my Rangers vs Guardians prediction.
Patrick Corbin is set to get the start for Texas here. He comes into this game with a 7-11 record and a 4.34 ERA. Cleveland’s starter is going to be Logan Allen, who is 8-11 with a 4.22 ERA for the year. Both of these pitchers have struggled with consistency this year. The big question will be whether Allen can hold his nerve with a division title on the line for the Guardians.
The Guardians snapped a two-game losing streak with their win over the Rangers yesterday. Their win on Saturday set up this scenario, where a win or a Tigers loss on Sunday would sew up the division title for Cleveland. Texas has dropped three of their last five games and they have been eliminated from postseason contention.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
José Ramírez | Over 0.5 Home Runs |
Wyatt Langford | Under 1.5 Total Bases |
Steven Kwan | Over 1.5 Total Bases |
Score Projection: Rangers 3 – Guardians 4
Win Probability: Texas 43%, Cleveland 57%
This is a huge game for Cleveland, not just in terms of the division title, but in terms of confidence heading into the postseason. My expectation for today is that the Guardians will complete their September surge with a win at home to lock up the AL Central title. As long as their pitching staff doesn't struggle with the weight of this moment, Cleveland should be able to finish their incredible comeback with a division title and a ton of confidence going into postseason play.
