New York Yankees vs Seattle Mariners Prediction: Yankees Look to Continue Unbeaten Start

The New York Yankees open a key early-season road series on Monday night against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Both clubs enter with playoff expectations, but they arrive in very different form. New York has won three straight games to open the season, while the Mariners have split their first four matchups. Here, I break down this American League contest and make my Yankees vs Mariners prediction in the betting markets.
Ryan Weathers steps into a challenging spot for his first outing in pinstripes. The left-hander showed velocity during spring, even touching triple digits, but results were uneven. His ability to limit damage early will be key, especially in a ballpark that can punish mistakes.
Luis Castillo offers a sharp contrast. Seattle’s ace brings swing-and-miss stuff and a track record of durability. He typically works deep into games and limits walks, giving the Mariners a steady presence on the mound. On paper, this is a clear edge for Seattle in the starting pitching department.
Luis Castillo gives Seattle a clear advantage on the mound to start the game, and that should help the Mariners to grab an important home win in this contest. The Yankees are off to a nice start to their season after sweeping the Giants. But their pitching performance in that opening series just isn't sustainable. The Yankees gave up just one run over three games against the Giants, and they should give up more than that in this series opener against a very good offensive team in the Mariners.
My best bet for this contest is for the Mariners to hand the Yankees their first loss of the season. Look for Castillo to outperform Weathers and for that to set the tone throughout this marquee matchup on Monday night in MLB.
