The Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays will meet on Wednesday night in Toronto. Boston is looking to hold onto a Wild Card position in the American League late in the season and they will look for another key win tonight. Toronto is clinging to the top spot in the AL East but their lead is down to just one game. Before the first pitch in this matchup from Rogers Centre, continue reading to get my Red Sox vs Blue Jays prediction for Wednesday night.
Boston is handing the ball to Garrett Crochet, who has enjoyed a strong season. He is 17-5 and is among the league’s most consistent arms. He has 249 strikeouts for the season and is exactly who the Red Sox would want on the mound in a spot like this.
Toronto counters with veteran Max Scherzer. His season has had ups and downs. His 5.06 ERA is a warning flag, though his pedigree and experience cannot be ignored. Crochet holds the edge in this matchup, but Scherzer is always capable of throwing a gem any time he steps on the mound
Boston has won three of its last four games, including the opening game of this series in Toronto. The Blue Jays have lost four of their last five games and has seen their lead in the AL East shrink to just one game over the New York Yankees with just a few days left in the regular season.
Player | Prop Type | Pick |
|---|---|---|
Carlos Narváez | Home Runs | Over 0.5 |
George Springer | Total Bases | Over 1.5 |
Garrett Crochet | Strikeouts | Over 6.5 |
Score Projection: Boston 5 – Toronto 4
Win Probability: Boston 54%, Toronto 46%
This is going to be a close game between quality teams with excellent starting pitchers on the mound. But I think that the Red Sox have the inside track to get the win in this matchup. Garrett Crochet is pitching at the highest level of anyone in the AL East right now and he should get his team a huge win for their Wild Card hopes while hurting the AL East championship chances of Toronto.
