The SEC Tournament brings another chapter in a familiar conference rivalry as Kentucky faces Florida on Friday in Nashville. The Wildcats arrive after a 78-72 win over Missouri that kept their postseason hopes alive and improved their record to 21-12. Florida enters as the top seed in the SEC Tournament after a dominant regular season that ended with a 25-6 record and a conference mark of 16-2. These teams have already met twice this year, with the Gators sweeping the season series and looking for a third win over the Wildcats in this Kentucky vs Florida rematch.
Florida enters the SEC Tournament as one of the conference’s most dominant teams. The Gators closed the regular season with 11 consecutive wins and completed a regular-season sweep of Kentucky. Their balanced offense and depth have been major reasons for their success, as multiple players contribute scoring and rebounding production on a nightly basis.
Kentucky, on the other hand, has already played two games in Nashville. The Wildcats defeated LSU in the opening round and followed that up with a hard-fought 78-72 victory over Missouri. In that win, Kentucky built a large second-half lead before holding off a late comeback. Playing on short rest could be a factor, but the Wildcats also bring rhythm and confidence after two victories.
Another storyline is whether Kentucky can solve Florida’s offense. In two meetings this season, the Gators scored 92 and 84 points while shooting efficiently from the field and spreading scoring across the lineup. If Kentucky wants to flip the script, improving defensive rebounding and limiting Florida’s perimeter shooting will be critical.

Florida has already proven it can score against Kentucky, averaging 88 points across the two meetings this season. The Gators have also shown superior rebounding and defensive efficiency, two areas that often decide tournament games. Their depth allows them to maintain offensive production even if one or two players have quiet nights.
Kentucky deserves credit for battling through the early rounds of the SEC Tournament and showing plenty of toughness in Nashville. However, the Wildcats are now facing a Florida team that has beaten them twice, enters the tournament rested, and carries one of the hottest streaks in the conference. Florida should win this game, but I don't think it will be decided by double-digits and I will take the Wildcats and the points.
