Montreal Alouettes vs Edmonton Elks Prediction & Preview For CFL Week 3 - 6/20/2026

Two unbeaten teams meet in Edmonton on Saturday afternoon as the Montreal Alouettes put their 2-0 record on the line against an Edmonton Elks squad coming off a season-opening victory. While Edmonton has enjoyed extra preparation time following its Week 2 bye, Montreal enters this contest playing the best offensive football in the CFL through the first two weeks of the season.
The Alouettes have rallied for wins over Hamilton and Toronto, averaging 33.5 points per game while quarterback Davis Alexander has emerged as the early favorite in the CFL Most Outstanding Player discussion. Edmonton opened the year with a 29-21 win over Ottawa and now faces its toughest test of the season in its home opener at Commonwealth Stadium.
Montreal has been the CFL's most explosive passing offense through two weeks. Alexander leads the league in completions, attempts, passing yards, and touchdown passes. He threw for 338 yards and 2 touchdowns in Week 1 before following that performance with 441 yards and 2 more scores against Toronto.
The biggest concern for Edmonton is slowing down a Montreal passing attack that has already produced 777 passing yards from Alexander. Tyson Philpot has emerged as the top target, leading the CFL with 269 receiving yards through two games. Edmonton's defense looked solid against Ottawa, but this represents a significant jump in competition.
The Elks should keep things competitive at home, especially with the benefit of extra rest and preparation. However, Montreal owns the quarterback edge, the receiving edge, and enters the game with more proven offensive production. Unless Edmonton generates consistent pressure on Alexander, the Alouettes should have enough firepower to remain unbeaten.
Total Parlay Odds: +435
The foundation of this parlay starts with Montreal to win the game. The Alouettes have been the more complete team through the opening two weeks and possess the league's hottest quarterback. Alexander's unbeaten regular-season run continues to grow, and Montreal's offense has consistently delivered explosive plays.
The over is attractive because Montreal has scored 30 and 37 points in its first two games. The Alouettes and Argonauts combined for 67 points last week, while Edmonton scored 29 in its opener. Both offenses have enough talent to push this game into the 50s.
Philpot rounds out the ticket. He exploded for 193 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns against Toronto and enters Week 3 as the CFL leader in receiving yards. With Alexander throwing at a high volume, Philpot remains one of the most dangerous scoring threats on the field.
The headline entering this game is Davis Alexander's remarkable start to his CFL career. The Montreal quarterback remains undefeated as a regular-season starter and has elevated the Alouettes into Grey Cup contender status. Through two games, Alexander has completed 56 passes for 779 yards and 4 touchdowns while directing an offense that has looked nearly impossible to contain.
Montreal's victory over Toronto in Week 2 showcased the ceiling of this offense. Alexander threw for a career-high 441 yards, while Philpot repeatedly found space downfield. The Alouettes erased deficits in both of their victories, showing an ability to win games in multiple ways.
Edmonton enters the contest with confidence after defeating Ottawa 29-21 in its season opener. The extra week of preparation should help an Elks team that has not played since Week 1. Home-field advantage also carries more significance in the CFL than many bettors realize, particularly when eastern teams travel west.
The challenge for Edmonton will be generating enough offense to keep pace. Montreal's offense has operated at a different level from the rest of the league through the opening weeks. If the Alouettes reach 30 points again, Edmonton may struggle to match that output.
One factor working in Edmonton's favor is health and preparation. The bye week allowed additional recovery time and extra practice opportunities before the home opener. The Elks know a victory here would establish them as an early contender in the West Division.
Still, the statistical breakdown favors Montreal. The Alouettes have scored 67 points across two games, Alexander leads the CFL in nearly every major passing category, and Philpot has developed into one of the league's most productive receivers. Edmonton has played well, but it has not yet faced an offense with this level of efficiency.
Expect the Elks to remain within striking distance for much of the afternoon, particularly with the energy of the home crowd behind them. In the end, Montreal's passing attack should be the difference. Alexander continues his outstanding start, Philpot makes several impact plays, and the Alouettes leave Edmonton with a hard-fought road victory.
