We see ads all the time, whether we’re scrolling through social media, streaming our favorite TV shows, or even just out and about. And since so many of the ads we see are targeted based on our interests, if you’re anything like me and enjoy playing games such as slots and blackjack online, you’ve probably seen your fair share of social casino ads.
Lately, I’ve noticed plenty of familiar faces in them, too. Paris Hilton, Drake, and Michael Phelps are just a few of the big names I’ve seen promoting these sweepstakes sites.
But does having a celebrity attached mean a social casino is definitely legit and worth trying? I decided to find out for myself. For this article, I tested MyPrize, Chumba Casino, and Modo Casino, three social casinos that have been promoted by some pretty recognizable names, to see what they actually have to offer. Here’s what I found.
The first social casino I checked out was MyPrize, which has partnered with NBA star James Harden and actor and comedian Marlon Wayans. Harden became the site's first "Premier Creator" in late 2025, with Wayans joining a few months later. Both have their own rooms on MyPrize where they can livestream, play games, and interact with users.
Right off the bat, I'll tell you that MyPrize was my favorite of the three, and it's actually somewhere I'd consider playing. There are more than 1,800 games, with everything from slots and live dealers to fish shooting games, scratch cards, and MyPrize Originals like Cross the Road and Cross the Lake.
I also liked that MyPrize puts some emphasis on the "social" part of social casinos. Play Together lets you join rooms with friends, streamers, and other players, and you can sometimes share in wins and bonuses from the streamer you're watching.
There are a few other things I hadn't really seen elsewhere. MyPrize VS Skills has head-to-head skill games like Think-o, while MyPrize Packs lets you open packs of real collectible trading cards that can be shipped to you or sold back.
If I had one complaint, it's that there aren't many ongoing promotions right now. I'd like to see more added there over time. But of the three sites I tried for this article, MyPrize was the one I liked the most.
Next up is Chumba Casino, which is probably one of the most recognizable brands in the social casino space. It's also one of the oldest, having launched back in 2012.
Chumba partnered with Ryan Seacrest in late 2023, bringing in the longtime American Idol host for a year-long campaign across its advertising channels. Seacrest even has his own slot on the site, Ryan Seacrest's 10K Ways, which you can still play today.
More recently, Chumba has teamed up with WWE, with stars like Drew McIntyre and Tiffany Stratton appearing in ads for the site. The partnership has also included WWE-themed promotions and giveaways. Chumba's parent company, VGW, has made some other big partnerships as well, including one with 23XI Racing, the NASCAR team founded by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin.
I've played at Chumba quite a bit myself, and it's definitely one of the more established social casinos out there. I've redeemed prizes without any issues, and there are 200+ games across slots, table games, video poker, bingo, scratch cards, and more.
That said, Chumba is pretty basic compared to some of the newer sites I've tried. There aren't many extra features, and its Chumba Lite app doesn't support Sweeps Coin play. But if you're wondering whether Chumba is legit, I haven't seen anything during my time playing there that would make me think otherwise.
The third social casino I tested was Modo Casino. I see their ads constantly on TikTok and other social media platforms, and pro golfer John Daly is one of the faces I've come across quite a bit.
Daly partnered with Modo in 2025 alongside comedian Brad Williams, with both appearing in ads and other content for the brand. Modo has also teamed up with longtime UFC announcer Bruce Buffer, who even has his own game on the site called IT'S TIME!!. Buffer has stayed involved beyond that, including a live event with Modo in early 2026. The brand has leaned pretty heavily into sports overall, with partnerships involving PBR and NASCAR as well.
As for Modo itself, it's a legit social casino, and one thing I found interesting is that it's 100% U.S.-owned and operated. That actually lines up pretty well with the personalities and sports Modo has built its advertising around, especially someone like John Daly.
There's a lot to play, with 2,000+ games, including slots, progressive jackpots, live dealers, Modo Originals, fishing games, and more. There's also a dedicated mobile app for iOS.
I did have a couple of complaints. Live chat support is limited to higher VIP levels, and I thought the welcome bonus and daily login rewards were a little underwhelming. But overall, there was more I liked than disliked while testing Modo.
After spending some time with all three, I’d say they’re worth a look. MyPrize was my favorite of the bunch, but I had a pretty good experience with Chumba and Modo as well, and all three bring something a little different to the table.
Of course, don’t sign up for a social casino just because you recognize the celebrity promoting it. Do a little research first, see what other players are saying, and make sure the site has the games and features you’re actually looking for.
