Feyenoord welcome Como to De Kuip on Wednesday, October 14, for their second Champions League fixture of the 2026–27 season. The Dutch side suffered a humiliating 5-1 defeat against Barcelona in their opener, while Como enjoyed a dream European debut with a convincing 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig.
Those results help explain why Como are the favorites on Kalshi and Polymarket, but I'm not entirely convinced the difference between these teams is as significant as the prices suggest. Feyenoord have responded to their Barcelona defeat with three consecutive Eredivisie victories, scoring 14 goals without conceding, and they now sit at the top of the Dutch league.
Como have been impressive under Cesc Fàbregas, although their attacking performances have been less convincing recently. They failed to score against both Frosinone and Roma, which isn't exactly ideal preparation for a Champions League trip to Rotterdam.
I expect a competitive encounter, with opportunities for both teams, but I'm leaning toward Feyenoord to win. At approximately 29–30¢, the Dutch hosts are an interesting alternative to the market favorite.
Both Kalshi and Polymarket make Como the favorites for Wednesday's Champions League matchup.
Here is how the latest available prices compare.
It's quite remarkable that Como are favored away against a Feyenoord team that has been dominating domestically. On the other hand, the Italian side thoroughly deserves some respect after dismantling RB Leipzig in their Champions League opener.
The more interesting question is whether the markets are giving Feyenoord enough credit for their recent improvements.
At around 29¢, the Dutch side need to win more than 29% of the time for the contract to offer positive expected value before trading fees. That feels like a relatively low threshold for a team playing at home, particularly considering how well Feyenoord have performed since their defeat against Barcelona.
Other markets worth considering include both teams to score and total goals. Kalshi's indicative prices put both teams to score at approximately 67% and over 2.5 goals around 65%. Polymarket also offers various total-goals contracts, including over 3.5 goals at approximately 43¢.
I'm less interested in the goal-margin markets for this particular game. Neither team has demonstrated enough consistency against comparable European opposition for me to confidently predict a comfortable victory.
Instead, I think the outright Feyenoord win contract deserves attention, provided the purchase price remains somewhere around the high-20¢ range.
Losing 5-1 against Barcelona isn't necessarily a reason to panic. The Catalans are among the strongest teams in Europe, and plenty of good sides have experienced equally unpleasant evenings at Camp Nou.
However, the manner of Feyenoord's defeat raised some legitimate questions about their ability to compete against stronger opponents. Barcelona repeatedly found space in dangerous attacking areas, while Feyenoord struggled to maintain their defensive structure.
Fortunately for Giovanni van Bronckhorst, his team responded in impressive fashion.
Feyenoord followed that defeat with three consecutive Eredivisie victories, defeating PEC Zwolle 7-0, Utrecht 5-0 and AZ Alkmaar 2-0. That's 14 goals scored, three clean sheets and nine points from nine available. It's difficult to ask for a much better response.
The victory against AZ on October 10 was particularly encouraging.
Unlike Zwolle and Utrecht, AZ entered the match as one of the strongest teams in the Eredivisie. Nacho Ferri opened the scoring after just 13 minutes, while Javi López added the second goal shortly before the hour mark.
The result moved Feyenoord to the top of the league with 20 points from eight matches.
I wouldn't make too much of the victories over Zwolle and Utrecht individually, but beating AZ without conceding suggests that Feyenoord's improvements aren't entirely dependent on facing weaker opposition.
There is also an encouraging development in attack.
Nacho Ferri has scored in three consecutive appearances, including a hat-trick against Zwolle. The Spanish striker has adapted well following Ayase Ueda's departure, giving Feyenoord a reliable attacking focal point.
With Anis Hadj Moussa and Luciano Valente supporting him, Feyenoord have developed an attacking combination that looks capable of troubling stronger opponents.
The challenge now is translating that domestic form into European football.
Como's remarkable rise through Italian football has continued under Cesc Fàbregas, and their Champions League debut couldn't have gone much better.
The Italian side defeated RB Leipzig 4-1 on September 10, with Martin Baturina, Anastasios Douvikas, Assane Diao and Máximo Perrone all getting on the scoresheet.
It was an impressive performance, particularly considering Como had never previously played in the Champions League. They looked comfortable against experienced European opposition, combining intelligent possession play with quick attacking transitions.
Nico Paz was particularly influential, contributing two assists and repeatedly creating problems for Leipzig's defense.
However, Como's domestic form has been less convincing since that victory.
They defeated Parma 2-1 before suffering a 2-0 defeat against promoted Frosinone. Their latest Serie A fixture ended in a goalless draw against Roma on October 11, despite Roma playing much of the second half with ten men.
Failing to score in two consecutive league matches isn't necessarily a major concern, but it does raise questions about Como's attacking consistency.
Fàbregas has built a team that likes to control possession and dictate the tempo, but that approach can sometimes become predictable when opponents defend in an organized fashion.
There is also a considerable difference between beating Leipzig at home and visiting Feyenoord at De Kuip.
The Dutch side will have their supporters behind them, and after three consecutive victories, confidence should be significantly higher than it was following the Barcelona defeat.
I still expect Como to create opportunities. Their attacking players are technically gifted, and they have already demonstrated that they can perform against stronger European opposition.
However, I don't think they're such overwhelming favorites that Feyenoord should be available at approximately 29¢.
Both managers have selection decisions to make ahead of Wednesday's Champions League encounter, with Feyenoord particularly affected by injuries in defense.
Feyenoord predicted XI (4-3-3):
Ernst; Read, St. Juste, Mármol, López; Zechiël, Vanhoutte, Targhalline; Hadj Moussa, Ferri, Valente.
Como predicted XI (4-2-3-1):
Butez; Yan Couto, Ramón, Chalobah, Valle; Milla, Da Cunha; Diao, Paz, Baturina; Douvikas.
These are predicted lineups rather than confirmed starting XIs.
Feyenoord have several players unavailable, particularly in defense. Thomas Beelen remains sidelined with a broken leg, while Jordan Bos, Bart Nieuwkoop and Gijs Smal are also dealing with injuries.
Jakub Moder and Reiss Nelson are additional concerns, while Tsuyoshi Watanabe's availability remains uncertain.
Despite those absences, Van Bronckhorst has managed to build a reasonably effective defensive unit in recent matches. The three consecutive clean sheets are encouraging, although Como should provide a more demanding test than Feyenoord's recent domestic opponents.
Jeremiah St. Juste and Mika Mármol are expected to start in central defense, with Givairo Read and Javi López occupying the full-back positions.
Como have fewer immediate injury concerns, although Moise Kean is unavailable with a muscular problem. Jayden Addai is also sidelined, while Maxence Caqueret is not registered for Champions League duty.
That leaves Douvikas as the expected starting striker, supported by Paz, Baturina and Diao.
The visitors should therefore have most of their preferred attacking players available, which is something Feyenoord will need to respect.
This is the part of the matchup I find most interesting.
Both teams prefer to play attacking football, although they approach it slightly differently.
Feyenoord generally operate in a 4-3-3 formation, using aggressive movement from their wide players and midfielders to create opportunities. Van Bronckhorst's team have become increasingly efficient at moving the ball into dangerous attacking areas, particularly against opponents who leave space behind their defensive line.
Como, meanwhile, prefer a more controlled approach.
Fàbregas encourages his players to build from the back, dominate possession and create opportunities through combinations between their attacking midfielders. Nico Paz is especially important in that system, with his movement between the lines often creating space for teammates.
The problem for Como is that Feyenoord aren't necessarily going to allow them to dictate proceedings.
Playing at De Kuip, I expect the Dutch side to press aggressively and attempt to disrupt Como's buildup. If Feyenoord can force mistakes in midfield, their attacking players should have opportunities to exploit the space left behind.
There is also an interesting battle between the wide players.
Hadj Moussa has been one of Feyenoord's most dangerous attacking outlets, while Como's full-backs regularly move forward to support their possession game. That creates the possibility of Feyenoord finding space on the counterattack, particularly if Como lose possession in advanced positions.
However, Feyenoord's aggressive approach comes with risks of its own.
The 5-1 defeat against Barcelona demonstrated what can happen when their defensive structure becomes stretched. Como might not possess Barcelona's individual quality, but Paz and Baturina are certainly capable of taking advantage of poor positioning.
I expect both teams to enjoy periods of dominance. Feyenoord should have the advantage of home support and recent momentum, while Como have enough technical quality to control possession for extended spells.
That combination could produce an entertaining match, although I'm not convinced either team will establish complete control.
