The Winnipeg Jets head into Friday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche with plenty to prove. The Avalanche sit atop the NHL standings with one of the best records in the league and a historic home ice track record this season. Meanwhile, the Jets have struggled to maintain consistency, dropping the majority of their recent games and entering this contest with questions after back-to-back road losses. Here, I break down this important matchup on the ice and give you my Jets vs Avalanche prediction.

Colorado enters this game riding a strong wave of success, winning each of their last three outings. The Avalanche have the best record in the league and appear to be the favorites to win this year's Stanley Cup. Nathan MacKinnon has been instrumental, delivering elite production with multiple points in recent games. The Jets have struggled to string together wins, losing five of their last six, including a shutout at the hands of the Blues and an overtime loss to the Senators over their last two games.
The Avalanche has a strong goaltending tandem with Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood combining for 24 wins and just two regulation losses, helping Colorado maintain one of the stingiest defensive records in the league. Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck returned recently from injury but will need to be at his best for the Jets to have a shot in this matchup.
Nathan MacKinnon leads the NHL in goals and points, and with linemates like Martin Necas contributing consistently, the Avalanche’s attack is difficult to slow down. Cale Makar also remains a dynamic force on the blue line with his scoring and playmaking abilities. For the Jets, Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi have provided offense, but secondary scoring has been limited and defensive lapses have overshadowed any individual efforts.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Nathan MacKinnon | Over 1.5 Points |
Martin Necas | Over 0.5 Points |
Kyle Connor | Over 0.5 Points |
Score Projection: Winnipeg Jets 2 – Colorado Avalanche 5
Win Probability: Winnipeg Jets 23%, Colorado Avalanche 77%
It is hard to see anyone stopping the Avalanche with the way they are playing right now. Even with Hellebuyck back on the ice for the Jets, I'm willing to lay the puckline with the Avs at a plus price on Friday night. Look for the Avalanche to keep rolling opponents over at home, where they are 13-0-2 on the season thus far.
