San Antonio heads to Charlotte on Saturday for an early-afternoon tip that pairs an ascending contender with a young group trying to steady itself. The Spurs arrive at 32-15 overall and 15-9 away from home, leaning on Victor Wembanyama to become a Western Conference contender. Charlotte stands 21-28 and 9-13 at home and hoping to pull off an upset here. Before tip-off from Spectrum Center, continue reading to get my Spurs vs Hornets prediction in the NBA.
Our Spurs vs Hornets Pick

Confidence: 3/5
Game Snapshot
- Matchup: San Antonio Spurs @ Charlotte Hornets
- Date & Time: Saturday, January 31, 2026, 12:00 PM ET
- Venue: Spectrum Center, Charlotte, North Carolina
- Broadcast: Prime Video
Key Storylines
- Top-end talent edge: Victor Wembanyama leads San Antonio at roughly 24.3 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, with rim protection that changes how opponents attack the defense of the Spurs. De’Aaron Fox is a great complement for Wemby, as he can get to the rim and the mid-range at will to make life easier on the Frenchman.
- Charlotte’s creators: LaMelo Ball sets up the offense of the Hornets at 7.6 assists per game and still has three-level scoring talent. Brandon Miller has continued to ascend as a primary scorer with 20.6 points per game, giving Charlotte a second dependable option, while Kon Knueppel has been one of the most productive rookies in the league for Charlotte.
- San Antonio comes into this game in second place in the Western Conference, five games back of the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Hornets are out of playoff positioning in the Eastern Conference, but they have won five games in a row and are inching closer to the .500 mark for the season.
- Availability watch: Jeremy Sochan is out for the Spurs with a quad injury, but is the only name on the Spurs injury report right now. Mason Plumlee and KJ Simpson are both out for the Hornets, and Josh Green is questionable to compete here as well.

Final Thoughts
My best bet for this contest is for the Charlotte Hornets to cover the spread as a home underdog at Spectrum Center. The Spurs are the better basketball team going into this game, but Charlotte has been improving rapidly over the last few weeks and that trend should continue here. The Hornets should keep things competitive in this game and cover the number as a home dog.
