The Portland Trail Blazers travel to face the Phoenix Suns on Sunday in an intriguing Western Conference battle at the Mortgage Matchup Center in Phoenix. The Suns come off an emotional double overtime win over the Orlando Magic where Jalen Green hit a buzzer-beating three to secure a 113-110 victory, though they’re dealing with significant injuries, including Dillon Brooks and Devin Booker. Can Phoenix get the win for a second day in a row? Find out my thoughts below, as I make my Trail Blazers vs Suns prediction.

Key Storylines
- Phoenix is dealing with major injuries to Dillon Brooks (broken hand) and Devin Booker (hip strain), potentially missing Sunday’s contest, which weakens their scoring and leadership.
- The Suns’ recent win vs Orlando was a showcase of grit, but they’ve struggled without Booker in the lineup and rely on role players like Grayson Allen and Collin Gillespie to produce in his place.
- Portland’s confidence is shaky after a 54-point loss to Denver, but the Blazers have rebounding strength and can exploit Phoenix’s absences to control tempo.
- Portland is in 10th place in the Western Conference standings, but it would be hard for them to cough up a spot in the play-in tournament late in the regular season.
Key Players
Phoenix Suns
- Collin Gillespie – The Suns’ primary scorer in recent matchups, Gillespie dropped a career-high 30 points with 10 assists in a game against Portland earlier this month, showcasing his ability to lead offensively.
- Grayson Allen – Returned from injury to score 27 points in Phoenix’s OT win, giving the Suns a reliable wing presence when Booker is out.
- Jordan Goodwin – A versatile contributor who posted a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in recent action, Goodwin’s energy off the bench boosts Phoenix’s competitiveness.
Portland Trail Blazers
- Jerami Grant – Led Portland with 23 points in their recent meeting with Phoenix, serving as the key offensive option and a go-to scorer in clutch moments.
- Shaedon Sharpe – A dynamic wing scorer averaging over 21 points per game, Sharpe provides explosive scoring that can tilt this game if he gets hot.
- Donovan Clingan – A rebounding force with a strong interior presence, Clingan’s ability to control the boards will be crucial against a Suns team lacking size with key injuries.

Final Thoughts
This is the second straight game where the Trail Blazers are facing a team on the second game of a back-to-back. But I think this one will go a lot better than Portland's last game did against the Denver Nuggets. With Booker and Brooks hurt, a fatigued Suns team will struggle here and I'll lay the points with Portland on the road.
