Michelle Montague enters the UFC with an unblemished record of 6-0. All six of her victories have been achieved via submission, predominantly through rear-naked chokes. Known for her elite grappling skills, Montague has showcased her dominance in PFL and Bellator. While she has had nothing but success in her pro MMA career, her transition from featherweight to bantamweight raises questions about her ability to get the job done at a different weight class.
Luana Carolina has a professional record of 11-4 and she brings significant UFC experience to the octagon. Carolina is on a three-fight winning streak and has wins over big names in women's MMA like Loopy Godinez. She will look to use her experience in this promotion to overcome facing a fighter who is on home soil and will have the crowd firmly on her side throughout.
Montague's undefeated record and ability to collect submissions are impressive. But her lack of UFC experience and the challenge of cutting weight to bantamweight may hinder her performance. Carolina's extensive experience in the UFC octagon, combined with her striking capabilities and reach advantage, will make her the toughest opponent that Montague has faced in her career.
My best bet for this fight is for Luana Carolina to get the win as a sizable underdog during the UFC Fight Night prelims on Saturday. Carolina is a talented striker and I think that she has a better chance to win this fight than the odds would suggest. Even if it doesn't work out, getting Carolina at better than +200 is a solid value play.
