Anthony Wint and Terrance Chatman will meet in a heavyweight bout at UFC Sacramento on Saturday, August 22, with both men making their UFC debuts. It is an unusual matchup because Wint is coming off a 34-second Contender Series knockout and has been booked almost immediately, while Chatman fought as recently as July 19. The latest available market snapshot has Wint around -1050 and Chatman around +675, making Wint one of the largest favorites on the card.

Wint has moved remarkably quickly since beginning his professional MMA career. After making his pro debut in 2023, he submitted Jawaski Bethly in 2024, beat Omar El-Sahlah by split decision in March 2025, and then started piling up stoppages. He stopped Emmanuel Verdier in the 3rd round, knocked out Miles Banks in 31 seconds, and stopped Jamahl Tatum in only 37 seconds to win the Fury FC heavyweight championship.
The Miles Banks victory deserves particular attention. Banks is listed at 6'8" and 266 pounds, meaning Wint was already accustomed to fighting a considerably larger heavyweight before joining the UFC. Wint needed just 31 seconds to put him away. He then produced an even faster finish against Tatum, a 6'1", 261-pound opponent, before stopping Matt Adams in 34 seconds on Dana White's Contender Series.
The Adams fight was especially impressive. Wint opened with leg kicks, closed the distance, defended an attempted leg trip, and got the fight to the floor. From there, he took Adams' back and finished with ground-and-pound.
Wint is dangerous at range, but his athletic background gives him another route to victory. He can close distance quickly and use his strength in clinch exchanges. Against Chatman, that could be more important than trying to win a long-range striking battle against the taller fighter.
Chatman's professional record stands at 5-1, with 4 KO/TKO victories and 1 decision win. His only defeat came against veteran Myron Dennis by split decision in April. That fight went the full 5 rounds, giving Chatman valuable experience in deep waters that Wint simply does not have.
Chatman bounced back in July with a TKO of Juan Torres, finishing the fight with leg kicks at 3:32 of the opening round. That win demonstrated that his finishing ability is not limited to traditional boxing exchanges. He can damage an opponent's legs and force a stoppage through sustained attacks.
Chatman fought on July 19 and is returning roughly 5 weeks later. Wint fought Matt Adams on August 11 and has only 11 days between fights. Neither fighter has had an ideal preparation period, but Wint's quick turnaround may actually be less concerning because his Contender Series fight lasted only 34 seconds. He took very little physical damage before accepting this UFC opportunity. Chatman's recent fight lasted 3 minutes and 32 seconds, so his turnaround is longer but still relatively short for a heavyweight.
The central question is whether Chatman can make Wint work for an extended period. If he can keep Wint at the end of his punches and kicks, his size advantage becomes increasingly relevant. Wint is giving up height and mass, and his UFC debut will also test how his game translates when an opponent survives the initial burst.
The problem for Chatman is that surviving the opening exchange has proven extremely difficult against Wint. His recent victories over Banks, Tatum and Adams all ended before 1 minute, and Wint's finish against Adams showed that he does not need a prolonged striking exchange to win. He can create a clinch, secure a takedown and turn a short opening into a fight-ending sequence.
My expectation is that Wint will attack Chatman's legs early, use his explosiveness to get inside and test Chatman's ability to defend the takedown or clinch. Chatman's best path is to punish that aggression with long-range strikes and force Wint into a slower fight. If Chatman can reach the 2nd round, the matchup becomes considerably more competitive.
Prediction: Anthony Wint wins by KO/TKO in Round 1.
