The Nebraska Cornhuskers (17-0) travel to take on the Northwestern Wildcats (8-9) in a Big Ten battle on Saturday afternoon. Nebraska arrives in Evanston off to an undefeated start and with a 21-game winning streak after a 90-55 victory over Oregon in their last outing. Northwestern is still seeking its first conference victory and will lean on dynamic scorer Nick Martinelli to try and pull off an upset here. Before tip-off from Evanston, you can find my Nebraska vs Northwestern prediction below.

Key Storylines
- Nebraska continues one of the best starts in program history, now 17-0 and ranked in the top 10 nationally, thanks to a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense. The Cornhuskers held Oregon to under 60 points while draining 17 three‑pointers in their most recent outing. The Huskers will try to put together a similar performance here, one that would move them closer to the top five in the rankings.
- Northwestern heads into this game 0-6 in conference play, struggling to find consistency in a challenging stretch of Big Ten opponents. Despite their recent loss to Illinois, junior guard Jayden Reid scored a career‑high 28 points. Senior Nick Martinelli has been exceptional as well, averaging nearly 24 points per game with high efficiency.
- Rest and travel could factor into this game slightly, as Northwestern has had a quick turnaround from midweek action, while Nebraska had an extra day of rest after a dominant win. Both teams understand the significance of Big Ten positioning as the season progresses and we should see a Northwestern team desperate to avoid an 0-7 start in conference play.
- Nebraska comes into Saturday's play tied with Purdue at the top of the Big Ten standings. Those are the only two teams without a loss in Big Ten play so far this season and there is a lot of pressure on Nebraska to stay unbeaten to keep pace with Purdue with Big Ten tournament seeding still very much up for grabs.
Betting Trends
- Nebraska enters this game with a 10-6-1 record against the spread for the season.
- Northwestern is 6-10-1 against the spread going into Saturday afternoon.
- The under is 11-6 in games involving the Cornhuskers this year.
- Northwestern is 10-6-1 favoring the over in their games so far.

Final Thoughts
I am not expecting Northwestern's first Big Ten win of this season to come against an undefeated Nebraska team on Saturday afternoon. I am going to lay the points with the Cornhuskers here, as they should keep rolling while dropping the Wildcats further behind the rest of the pack in the Big Ten standings for this season.
