Buffalo is coming off a strong home win over Winnipeg, a 5-1 result propelled by an explosive performance from Josh Norris. That confidence-boosting win was preceded by a shootout win at Minnesota, though Buffalo did follow up the win over Winnipeg by losing to the Philadelphia Flyers. Overall, their road record remains poor, going just 2-7-2 away from home this season.
Winnipeg has shown signs of life at home, posting a 6-5-0 record in Winnipeg this season. But the Jets have struggled to maintain consistency of late, losing four of their last five games. Thankfully for the Jets, those games were all on the road and Winnipeg is now back on home ice and will look to capitalize on that.
Goaltending could shape the outcome of this game. Buffalo managed to stifle Winnipeg’s offense in the last meeting, limiting their top line to few genuine chances while getting a solid effort between the pipes. However, Buffalo’s inconsistency in goal has been a concern, particularly on the road. The Jets are still without Connor Hellebuyck and will go with Eric Comrie in net to try and hold down the fort.
For the Jets, watch out for Gabriel Vilardi and Mark Scheifele. Vilardi has 11 goals and 11 assists this season, and Scheifele remains dangerous with a team-high 14 goals and 20 assists. Their ability to create scoring chances off the rush and in transition could challenge a Buffalo defense that has struggled at times.
On Buffalo’s side, Josh Norris is an obvious player to watch after his two-goal return in the last meeting between these teams. Meanwhile, Tage Thompson and Rasmus Dahlin remain important for Buffalo's offense.
Player | Prop |
|---|---|
Kyle Connor (Jets) | Over 0.5 Points |
Tage Thompson (Sabres) | Over 0.5 Goals |
Mark Scheifele (Jets) | Over 1.5 Points |
Score Projection: Jets 4 – Sabres 2
Win Probability: Jets 65%, Sabres 35%
The Sabres crushed the Jets the last time these teams played. But I am giving Winnipeg the upper hand in this matchup. The Jets should take advantage of the struggles of the Sabres on the road this season and win this game in convincing fashion.
