Chiefs vs Raiders Prediction, Preview & Game Analysis - 10/4/2026

Kansas City and Las Vegas arrive at Allegiant Stadium with matching 3-0 records, but their paths to 3-0 have looked different. The Chiefs have paired Patrick Mahomes with a much more productive running game and have outgained opponents by 415 yards through three weeks. The Raiders have also scored 88 points, yet their offense ranks well behind Kansas City in total yardage and has leaned heavily on takeaways to have success during their surprising start.
Why Our Model Sees Value:

“Las Vegas has built much of its early record through turnovers, while Kansas City has been more efficient from snap to snap and has protected the ball well enough to reduce the Raiders’ biggest source of success.”
KC Favored On the Road
Polymarket currently prices Kansas City at 66% to win outright and Las Vegas at 35%. The spread market is more appealing, with Chiefs -4.5 priced at 49% and Raiders +4.5 at 52%. That gives Kansas City a lower implied chance of covering than my 54% projection.
KC's Offense More Sustainable
The gap between the market probability and my projection comes from how the Chiefs are producing their wins. Kansas City averages 416.3 yards per game, 2nd in the NFL, while Las Vegas is at 311.7, 19th. The Chiefs have gained 6.44 yards per play and allowed 4.71. Las Vegas sits at 4.92 gained and 5.16 allowed. If the Raiders do not create extra possessions, their statistical output leaves them much less room for error.

This is an important early division game between the only 3-0 teams in the AFC West. The winner will leave Week 4 alone in first place and potentially favorites in the AFC West futures market before Kansas City enters its bye. Las Vegas has already matched its win total from last season, making this a big test for them, but also a big opportunity.
Mahomes has thrown for 812 yards and seven touchdowns while completing 68.4% of his passes, making him the early Comeback Player of the Year market favorite. Kenneth Walker III leads the NFL with 360 rushing yards and has 442 scrimmage yards. That balance will be huge for the Chiefs against a Raiders defense that can pressure the quarterback but has been less convincing on defense than Kansas City.
Kansas City’s most recent result was a 24-10 road win over Miami. The Chiefs finished with 334 net yards and pulled away in the fourth quarter, with Mahomes finding Travis Kelce for the touchdown that closed the scoring.
The Raiders are 3-0 after wins over Miami, the Chargers and New Orleans. Their defense has forced nine turnovers while the offense has lost four, giving Las Vegas the league’s best turnover margin through three games. Four takeaways came against New Orleans, helping the Raiders erase an 11-point deficit despite being outgained.
That is the central variable for this prediction. Kansas City has lost only two turnovers all season. A Raiders defense that has created much of its scoring leverage through takeaways now faces an offense that has been unusually careful with the ball.
Kirk Cousins threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns last week, while Brock Bowers returned with 10 catches for 116 yards and a touchdown. Bowers gives Las Vegas a dangerous option in the middle of the field and can help Cousins stay on schedule.
Kansas City still owns the better defensive track record going into this Chiefs vs Raiders matchup, allowing 16.7 points and 178.3 passing yards per game. Las Vegas will likely need sustained drives rather than short fields to stay within the number.
The Thursday injury report listed Chiefs left tackle Josh Simmons as a non-participant for a second straight day with a back injury. L’Jarius Sneed was limited, while Mahomes, Chris Jones and Rashee Rice were full participants. Raiders guard Jackson Powers-Johnson missed both Wednesday and Thursday with a groin issue, while Ashton Jeanty practiced fully despite an ankle injury.
Las Vegas has enough pass rush and receiving talent to keep this competitive, but Kansas City owns the stronger efficiency metrics on both sides of the ball. With the Chiefs far less dependent on turnovers and much better in yards per play, Chiefs -4.5 at 49% offers enough separation from my 54% projection to justify the prediction. My projected score is Kansas City 27, Las Vegas 20.
